My question is how does the competition committee prevent this from happening in future MITB matches?

Do they modify the guidelines governing the match, install situational DQs, add arena security to the ring area?

Jack Tunney would have sorted this out.

Jack Tunney was a chump!

This is only an issue because Carmella is a woman. Outside interference has always reared its ugly head in the men's MITB. B+ryan is a self proclaimed feminist so he better not take Carmella's briefcase away.

Jack Tunney was the last high profile management official to have the genuine interests of the sport and the fans in mind. He was basically JFK.

...and don't make this a gender thing. Cheap is cheap...you know damn well if Maryse had somehow slithered away with the briefcase for her man, it would have been seen as the worst thing since Stephanie was tied to a Takerfix.

Seth Rollins didn't mind cheap when Kane interfered and held the ladder for him! There was no outrage.

Sheamus didn't mind cheap when Bray Wyatt pushed Double R off fthe lader. There was no outrage.

Now all of a sudden its an issue because James Ellsworth interfered. There's only one glaring difference here.... Carmela is a woman
