Ohhh I see. Even if he makes an All NBA team next year for someone they can't offer it?
I think the rule is you have to be drafted by the team or traded while you are still under your rookie contract.  He wouldnt qualify for it. I think thats the same reason CP3 cant get a supermax which is a ridiculous rule if you ask me.

If he goes somewhere else and is really good they'll have his bird rights and the chance to sign him to a super max, no?

I don't think this is true. They lose bird rights for trading for him. I think thats what happened to Boogie? Didn't him getting traded cost him around $40M as well? Or something like that

Happens all the time. Especially with long time rumoured ones.
When is the last time this happened that we knew all of the details in advance and then the trade was approved?  It almost never gets broke like that.

Not a single trade this offseason was broke like that.

How did Harden get one then?

Incorrect.  They retain his bird rights, but lose the ability to give him the supermax.  Boogie lost $40M because he was traded after his rookie contract.

He was traded on his rookie contract.  We just covered this man.

Just playing, its a confusing weird loophole

Correct me if im wrong here, but he didnt sign his first extension until after he was traded to Houston correct?  That was why he was traded in the first place was it not?

So if CP3 was traded last year to the pelicans would he qualify for it then? I'm confused as hell. I thought lebron was eligible but I guess not.

Cause they weren't long rumored. Nobody knew Dwert was being shopped. All the intricate details such as filler or specific pick numbers are subject to change but there's at least a general framework of principal pieces. And usually multiple NBA people will be on the same wave. Yet for this instance. Nothing at all on either front.

That's my point.  Actual trades that happen you usually never get the details for in advance.  I can't think of a single trade where it has happened like that.

Before you say "it happens all the time" you need to come with specifics.

Correct he was still on his rookie deal. Got drafted in 2009. Traded before he reached RFA. So D'angelo Russell for example or Kristaps if he's traded are still eligible for the Desiginated Player Exception.

I'm really curious if the Warriors make any moves tonight. Would be funny if they made another big move to troll the league lol
