Egypt is in Africa. Not a lil village in Sweden.
Of course they were black. That "We Wuz Kangz" is a white supremacist joke btw.

Do you have a source for these findings? May prove helpful for us to review, form opinions and then give you our thoughts.

Articulate and present your argument a little better. I don't know the root of the quote and your post rambles a bit, but discussion seems like there could be potential.

So basically the "we wuz kangz" meme pokes fun at people who believe in the black egyptian hypothesis. I believe the meme got created in 4chan.

of course thoughts on this is mixed because many believe ancient egypt to have been diverse and not dominated by dark skin egyptians.

edit*

i dont really have an argument. just wanted to hear NT's opinion.

"we wuz kangs" is a phrase used by people on the internet to attempt to lessen the accomplishments and achievements of dark skinned people, particularly Muslims and Africans.

Were there other people there in Africa? Of course, it would be stupid to think otherwise. But you have to be careful because this "it was diverse there tbh" line of thinking will be used to whitewash the truth in the future, as the European inferiority complex and western ideological supremacist thinking that created modern racism will latch on and try to downplay the achievements of brown people even further.

These are Bhatti people of Pakistan (formerly part of India) where if I'm not mistaken the original Aryan people (Hitlers Aryans were not true Aryans) originated. There are fair skinned people everywhere, humans travel when necessary.

Don't believe the hype.

Side note silkboi is absolutely correct, 1500 years would not denote ancient Egyptian. Those were likely nomadic people not even originally from the region.

Ancient Egypt was 5000 years ago.

Those findings were from a cemetery 1500 years old -- that's not Ancient Egypt.
hmmm true. I was reading other articles stating that they found blonde hair mummies in ancient egypt but it seems like the color of the hair changed during the mummy process.

thanks for the knowledge. i've never really explored history of africa or europe (my major was history of e. asia lol) so a lot of this is new to me. the most I explored out of e. asia were the accomplishments of Muslims in science/math... and the mongol empire.

Yeah and the article states the numbers found don't account for what the region represented.
Yet scientists are baffled about where the huge numbers of mummies came from - the remains of a nearby village is too small to warrant such a large cemetery and the nearest town, named Philadelphia after King Ptolemy II Phiadelphus, has its own burial sites.

Ancient Egypt goes back way further than 1500 years...some of the pyramids were built 2500 BC...Egypt was conquered by the romans at this point..

So wait....

how is egyptians being dark skinned relevent to the majority of african americans who don't even have egyptian roots?

I don't see how this questions relevant to the thread content but I see what you're getting at, the talking point is parroted by the people I see saying "we wuz kangs".

The point overall is black and brown peoples achievements being whitewashed.

Example: "the Egyptians weren't even really black"

Egyptians traded and exchanged knowledge with other countries along the Nile, as well as surrounding countries in Africa and outside of it. It's not really about having Egyptian roots in the end. People act like Egypt is it's own entity and it doesn't make sense.

Your premise is a racist meme.  If you want to discuss diversity in ancient Egypt, go back to the lab and formulate a more respectful framing for that discussion.

As it stands, it seems like you're trying to support rather than challenge crude, bigoted attempts to mock those who are proud of their ancestry.

If you go back far enough, EVERYONE can trace their lineage back to Africa, so it makes no sense to deny someone a sense of connection to Egypt simply because their skin is "too dark."  If you skin is a few shades lighter or darker and your grandmother's, does that mean you're no longer related?

Then there's the assumption that only Egypt contained "kings," or achievements worth of celebrating.  Egypt was hardly the only civilization, or "advanced" civilization, on the continent.

The premise of this thread is just plain ignorant no matter how you slice it.  Re-frame this as a legitimate, respectful topic or take your racist meme back to noxious bowels of the Internet from whence it came.
