With all the recent retros making their way out of Nikes Vault, I thought we could use a thread to refresh our memories (and Nikes) on the Alpha Project line. IMO these shoes represent the peak of sneaker design. The combination of techonological and organic shapes, natural and synthetic materials made most of the shoes in this line look downright alien. There were many risks taken with the designs, a stark contrast to the majority of Nikes more current lineup where playing it safe is the name of the game and most shoes look more or less the same.

^ Tbh, I fear the same for most AP shoes. The attention to detail and use of materials/technology was so intricate, it leaves endless corners for Nike to cut. Theres also the matter of cushoning/comfort... With the exception of the Hyperflight, every single AP shoe was INCREDIBLY comfortable and well cushioned. The OG Zoom Flight 98 had 4 seperate Zoom units IIRC (3forefoor & 1 heel) the 2013 retro only had one, located in the heel.

I feel like many of these older models performed just as well, if not better, than many current models; but people are unaware of how truly great they are because OGs are renedered unwearable due to age and retros are merely a neutered "lifestyle" variant of the original design.

I would go after so many of these if they could retro them to near quality of the originals. Loved my Shox BB4 from back then, always wanted the Jet Flight, Kukini, and any of the models with a shroud. Mm. Memories.

The kukini and seismic coulda been big considering this current running/sock wave but nike ****** those retros up

Stunners were probably one of my favorite shoes to ball in, but the first time I laid eyes on the all black KG2s...jeeeezus! Purchased immediately at Macy's Herald Square!

My wife still has the Jet Flights in her closet.

Here's some more from the AP line. I think they pushed the envelope with this line.

Jets Flights are still my favorite basketball shoe of all time. Beat those into the ground my senior year.

Would love a retro of the white/blue/black running shoe with visible zoom. What were those called?

I wonder what kind of effect this will get on the retro releases?

Ultra flights were one of the best balling shoes ever created

Ultraflight, Jetflight, GP2, VC Shox, BB4, FP2, AM Elite... Damn near every shoe, with the exception of the Hyperflight, branded with the five dots was amazing on court. AP shoes were always more tech oriented than the given Jordan of the year and far better performers.

Only downside was most of their ball shoes were zoom based with very low profiles and thin soles, so they wore out extremely quickly on outdoor courts. FP1 & 2 uppers can survive an atomic bomb but the soles got roasted flat in under a month of blacktop use.

I hated these. Tried them on and they cut my achillies like a mf

Nostalgia for me. These were all the shoes that my parents wouldn't buy me lol.

There was something about seeing those 5 dots on the sneaker that made them feel next level.

If I can get to storage this weekend I'll try and dust off some gems.

I'd be surprised to see shoes from this line up be retroed.

My favorite.. the flightposite 3

And these ^^. Was just looking at them again a couple weeks ago but somehow have suddenly blanked on the name. Anyone care to refresh me?

^^ I had two pairs of these at the time. Amazing shoe that generated a lot of inquiries in the day. Want these back. Assume it is never happening.
