Tips/advice on how to paint / color chromed plastic on shoes?

Whats good NT. Hope this is the right forum. Does anyone here have tips or advice on how to properly paint/color chrome plastic on shoes?

I need to convert this

into something like this

and 

I know its a small difference, but the color gradient on the arch pieces makes all the difference for me since I was around when these and1s first dropped and thats the way they were on VC and Sprewell's pairs back in the day.

If anyone knows how, or could point me in the direction of someone who has done it or knows how, I'd really appreciate it thanks in advance!


 

I would think that would have to be stripped and then airbrushed. Can't think of another way you'd get that sort of look.
