Vic Mensa wanted to slap DJ Akademiks

I just heard a little bit of the comments AK made about Tray 57 and I can't even be mad at Vic Mensa's anger.

I know very little about DJ Akademiks and I could be completely wrong but his tone comes across as condescending, patronizing and even culture vulture-ish in a strange way.

Even considering that it may be "satire", it sounds like someone speaking on a situation they know very little about and/or regurgitating popular talking points, jokes, and memes.

It's a big grievance I have with the national perception of black America and I'm kind of disappointed to hear it come from a black man with some presumable degree of influence

Regarding your comments on West Indians, having a large chunk of my family be West Indians and having spent my childhood in a West Indian neighborhood: can't speak to outright "animosity" but I can acknowledge that there's a weird disconnect to be found between WI and AA, most prominently when the WI haven't been in this country for very long or depending on where they spent their formative years

The man made social media commentary on the info that the chiraq participants made on social media. He basically just provided a single source to view all the ******* instead of having to follow each individual participant. Ak didn't do anything other than price it together. You would have gotten the same content if you were on twitter anyways. He never acted like he was part of the situation... how is he a culture vulture. ?? He got the source of the info from his computer screen. He packaged then displayed the info through his computer screen. And he made all the participants look like idiots who were self destructing through satire. That is the only proper way for it to be formatted.

You keep making a parallel that isn't there. Vic...or anyone else that disagreed with Akademiks has a beef with him because he KNOWS better. He's a college educated individual who knows exactly what he's doing. Obviously you're going to interface with him COMPLETELY different than interfacing with someone that's caught up IN the mix of the streets. I know why Lil Reese and all these other ****** do what they do. 

You're making the argument as people who say **** like "how come nobody protests when black people kill each other"....as if these things are so black and white and there has to be a ONE OR THE OTHER. As if a protest is the ONLY way to show that one disagrees with blacks killing blacks...and if there's a lack of one...it means they "don't care". 

I know why 21 Savage is 21 Savage. I'm not going to go to him and tell him to stop being 21 Savage...because I'm smart and intelligent enough to understand the political and socioeconomic factors that contributed to him became that way. I do have a problem with the rich and powerful record labels who choose to market and sell particular themes and images TO THE PEOPLE who are most susceptible to being harmed by these things. Because of their intent. They don't give a **** about "awareness". 

That's what this is w/ Akademiks on a smaller scale.  It's the same situation that people have w/ DJ Vlad. Sure it's within their "right" to "report" on what's out there...but you're acting like it's crazy that someone would question WHY they do what they do. Saying..."they're just reporting" doesn't excuse their decision to. They're entitled to do what they do...and people are entitled to disagree with what they do. 

I can GUARAN-*******-TEE you that if Dj Akademiks had a YouTube channel called the "War In Israel" where he made satirical video or "reported" on Israelis getting killed...that they would have got him out of the paint EARLY. I can also guarantee you that there would no Jews sitting up and arguing for it to be "his right" to do so.
