Daniel Day-Lewis announces retirement from acting...GOAT???

I would say hanks is the goat simply because of range but ddl is up there.

His performance in gangs of new york was impressive

Dude is quitting acting so he can go into directing.

He's gonna direct a film about his career and win another Oscar.

As a pure artist, I'll leave that to you guys.

But as pure enjoyment and must watch nah.

GoNY and TWBB are the only two movies I remember him in.

Lincoln was a snooze fest.

What else has he done?

I got Denzel, Pacino and gene hackman as the best of the best.

But his acting in gangs of New York was ******* amazing. And Leo seemed to have more camera time. But Day was that much better.

Yeah, yall can have him, he was a beast as the Butcher though.

Might be GOAT acting performance.

Won't call him GOAT actor.

What sets Lewis apart is his method acting. And when I say method acting, it is well known that he would not break character for anything.

Granted a lot of people claim they are method actors, but his attention and dedication to the craft is truly something else.

he actually joined a gang for gangs of new york

his performance in There Will Be Blood is one of the greatest ever.

that movie was nothing without him.

as far as method acting he is truly the GOAT.

GOAT

What that man does for his movie roles and the resulting acting performances is just ridiculous.

DDL is the most talented ever but give me De Niro's career overall, even though he's be coasting for a long time now.

Can't lie. DDl performance in TWBB was amazing. I forgot what it was but the dude was slapping him or sumomthing while this dude asking for forgiveness? I can't recall. Was amazing.

So amazing you can't remember huh?

Is it just me or is he not that well known? That name doesn't ring bells like Tom cruise or al pacino.

I've seen none of his movies, I'll have to check out at least one bc I've seen cats on here raving over him for years.

Speaking of method acting, are there any movies about that? Me and my boy were discussing heath leger yesterday and he said that Michael caine warned him about that joker role. Crazy how it lead to his death. A movie on an overly dedicated actor would be dope if done properly.

I know it's an art but it's hard to explain what makes someone a great actor. I just know it when I see it, same with bad acting.

Lastly, I wonder what makes some people stick to movies in oppose to shows and vice-versa. It may just be opportunity.

He picks his roles and doesn't chase money

You have to factor that in, very few, if any actors have that ability
