Why can't racism just go away (be careful TLDR)

Last night I was at a bar with a couple of friends. My friend and I wanted a beer so i went up to the counter to get my order in. I expected a long wait because it was packed. After standing there for about 10 minutes I noticed something off. Everyone that came after me was served first. Keep in mind they were all white. I'm Asian and the two bartenders were male. One was white and the other was Indian/Pakistani looking (let's just call him Uncle Tom). I clearly made intentions that I wanted to buy something (asking them what beer they had and having my debit card out). After 5 minutes the Indian guy tells me "i'll be right with you." Then he proceeds to help 3 women that literally just showed up (they were all white). The white bartender makes eye contact with me then walks away to chat with his friends. Being a patient person, I try not to jump to conclusions. Then another white guy squeezes through the crowd and ends up next to me. The Indian guy goes straight to him and asks him if he can help him. The white guy says "this guy was here before me and looks like hes been waiting for a while, help him first". Honestly that made my night. I didn't even care about the beer anymore.

So the Indian guy asks me what do I need. He got me the beer really quick. I wanted to throw a drink in his face tbh. I don't know man at that point I wasn't even mad anymore, just disappointed at the fact that we still treat each other like this. I just wanted to buy my drink and bounce but they made it so dam difficult. The white bartender was nowhere to be found after a few minutes. It sucks because I just want to be nice to everyone but in this day and age, racism is still alive and well.

Cliffs:
- I don't care what ethnicity you are

I’m ignoring the part about the women cause I get pushed aside so bartenders can serve the women all the time. Bothers me a bit but I remind myself I’m not in a rush to spend $7 on one beer.

As for the waiting.. that’s ******** and I would have straight up asked the bartender why I was going to be served after the dude who said for you to go first.

Bring mini bottles with you and down them in the bathroom. Problem solved.

But seriously, I hate situations like that and I don't hesitate to call them out. I don't see racism going anywhere unfortunately.

Post makes think of that drawn picture of a slave revolt with the slave master getting his *** whooped saying "so much for the tolerant left".

Sorry but you can't attribute this to racism, it sounds like it's more a case of you just being a pushover

I'm positive if you rolled up like

april-fools-the-hundreds-x-ben-baller-3115000-usd-diamond-encrusted-chain-13.jpg

And asserted your alpha-male presence you would have immediately been served a bottle of cris on the house

On the real though you sound like a young dude who's new to this or doesn't do it often

The night life scene is a **** show where being an aggressive douchebag is often the type of behavior that's most rewarded.

Also you took a potentially thought-provoking thread about racism and made it about you getting herbed over drinks

If you mean being an aggressive white douchebag then I agree. If I was white this thread wouldn't exist now would it?

same situation happened to me before..

clubs are lame though. loud and expensive

always did better at lounges and bars anyways..

Not to excuse the preferential treatment that goes on in those late night bar/nightclub settings, and besides after all I am white, but generally speaking you have to be quite aggressive in getting your drink in a busy and loud club or bar. All kinds of people try to get infront of you either way, so you gotta make sure to position yourself in a way where people can't just slip infront of you and take your spot. And in my experience waving for a drink with one or multiple bills of cash in your hand definitely seems like the best way to catch a bartender's attention, even if you just want to pay for one small drink. Especially in the club where everyone is trying to yell over the loud music. There's a dozen other people just like you infront of the bar who could be getting served before you, so you want to get ahead of the competition by going for a good position infront of the bar and figuring out a way to make yourself stand out from the dozen other dudes standing next to you waiting for a drink.
