There Will Never EVER be anyone like Allen Iverson.

iverson gets smaller with every thread i see about him he's gonna be 5'1" sooner or later.

Basketball is about all aspects of the game and that includes leadership, defense, and making your teammates better.
Leadership? Making teammates better? This thread is still about Allen Iverson?

Only 4 people have...
... been the number 1 pick in the draft, AND
... been the Rookie of the Year, AND
... have a regular season MVP, AND
... have an All Star Game MVP. (Yes, I understand this is by far the least important.

)

Iverson is one of those 4.

*appreciated*

See comments like this proves that he doesnt get enough respect...how is he selfish??

I'm sorry you have the 3rd highest scoring average in the regular season behind only jordan and chamberlain...and you have the 2nd highest scoring averagein the playoffs.....your one of the all time greats...anyone who doesnt think so doesnt know basketball...Iverson is a 1st ballot hall of famer without adoubt...

It's not hate on AI because he's one of my favorite players, but he's gotta reel it in and stop concentrating on scoring.
The offense should go through Melo first??....How is that AI's fault?...Thats Karl's fault...I mean what do you think happens...Karl tellsthe team the offense is running thru Melo and AI just says "nah f that coach...I'm runnin this??"

And plus Melo isn't ready yet to have an offense run through him..at least not under Karl...All Melo seems to do is force up jumpshots...or just try toplow his way through defenders like he's brandon jacobs or something..

Wilt and Money have rings. Two for Wilt and six for Money. Iverson is HoFer, but he's no champion. Champions will sacrifice for their team. Theywill defer from strengths to focus on the needs of a team. They will take of themselves to give to their teammates with faith that their teammates will do thesame and together they will carry each other to victory.

The man is unbelievable. I agree with Marc Jackson when he called him pound for pound the best player in the L.

The sad part is that he will most likely never get a ring because you can't build a championship team around his style of play.

What championship run? You must be talking about the Eastern Conference Championship.

AI was a beast but he needs to let the offense flow through 'Melo, that's plain to see

run the offense through carmelo!? are you serious?? get him to play D first and we'll see from there. All melo does is dribble around and jack shots up. AIatleast attacks for an easy jumper or creates an open look for Klieza.

Yea but they said the same things about Jordan until he got Pippen... I mean if Iverson played with another Top 50 Nba player you dont think he'dhave rings too...I'm but Iverson hasnt even played with anyone..who webber??glenn robinson??..

I'm sorry its not Iverson's fault he's had only played with bums...Its just too bad for Iverson he got stuck with one of the worst gms in the history of sports in Billy King...

Iverson can't win it by himself...like the saying goes...you can't make chicken salad out of chicken $%#&...and iverson has been playing withchicken "crap" most of his career..

just cause you have rings doesn't completely explain how great of a player you are

john stockton
Karl Malone
Sir Charles
Ewing
Kevin Johnson
Shawn Kemp

Some players are just fortunate to play for the right team that allows them to win a championship

Just cause Iverson never won a championship does not take anything away from him

The third thing is relevant to why he is so tough and why there will no one ever like him again. DUDE IS 5.10 165 POUNDS!!! I dont think people underrstand that small that is compared to nba players. It would be like the average person playing a game and a 4.11 dude dominating. He straight dominates game while getting thrown around and giving up sometimes a foot and a 100 pounds.

Im not even that big of a fan of his he just needs more respect. All his shots are fade away's as well due to him being so small. I think he is the most SKILLED player in the league. To me he is top 25 player of all time.

toughest mother @$%!$% ever to come into this league.

I mean amongst some of the st as such as the fact that he is a less than 6 foot 2 guard that will destroy you and drop over 30 a night, something that we willnever see again...

Really the stat that amazes me most about this man is that his game is all about physicality and he is so little, but still even at 32 son never misses a gameand he continues to lead the league in minutes which i am pretty sure he has led the league in or been in the top 5 in this entire decade (except maybe thatyear he was traded and sat out)

I am so happy that i got to see this man in his prime and i will always remember ma boi AI

allen is a monster..hes in his 30's and still scoring big numbers...just like mj was....kobe and Al been in the league same amount of time..AI was rookieof the year..kobe wasnt...allen iverson has about 1000+ more points than kobe has...only 9000 behind jordan...so if he plays for another 5 or so years..he'll top jordan...he crossed jordan..nobody else has..and jordan has played against hundreds or people... AI crosses kobe, vince carter..and EMBARASSEDtyrone lue...and basically the whole laker team... people just dont compare him to jordan cuz he's shorter...but statistically Iverson is doing so muchbetter than other people..and hes shorter..so automatically hes at a dissadvantage

the nuggets suck BECAUSE of melo!!! he sucks...he needs to hit the gym and get like lebron...lebron is diesel! and melo is wack....he also needs to get betterat his quick little jumper he tries to do..and he needs to pass the ball to AI instead of the other way around...

Ai brought phili to the finals..because they passed him the ball..it should be no different...hes the veteran on the team... but hes the best of the team andpeople still think its Melo's team...Ai will cross melo up SO0o bad...he'll be on injured reserved...hahaha

AI has played with numerous injuries and still crosses people up...STILL and hes old..hes like UPS..hes quick and delivers.. the other problem with the nuggetsis MElo's defense...he cant play none....

Kenyon martin gets rebounds...camby sends shots back in their faces...and A.i steals....%%$ does melo do? NOTHING...hes prolly drunk half the time...so heneeds to man up on defense..and let ai take care of offense...

=)

p.s. nene is a beast too and J.R smith ( j.r. is better than melo and he'll cross melo up and dunk on him and his mother )

p.p.s...KObe sux..and got lucky being on the lakers..gauranteed if A.I was on the lakers instead of kobe ..then he'd have rings too...shaq deserves all thecredit for kobes rings...

Pippen is another player that sacrificed some of his strengths because the team needed him to excel in other areas. Iverson just doesn't do this in hiscareer. He's had talented players around him, but he just never got over the hump to learn that the best players in history make the 4 other guys out thereWANT to play beyond their abilties.

Look at Iverson with Denver. The result are nearly identical to what he was doing in Philly after Larry Brown. Get his, gamble for steals, argue with hiscoach, argue with his teammates, but basically overall demonstrate qualities of selfishness. JR Smith has picked up on it. Look at all the ridiculous shots hetakes when everyone knows how strong his penetration game to the rim is.

It's too bad for Melo now. If he had been drafted by Detroit he would have learned early on exactly what the Pistons do for each other to make them ECFcontenders every single season.

Iverson is a great scorer and that's it.

How many times could you possibly be wrong in a single reply?

im not wrong
..what has melo done..lebron has Done so much more for his team..then melo can do for his..its time to acknowledge that and pass the ball to the Vet

exactly nobody saying anything...they are on nba.com..checkin out allens point totals compared to kobes and jordan and sayin Damn..hes right..and they arecheckin lebrons stats and melos and again..damn hes right..checkin out allens steals..cambys blocks and kenyons rebounds compares to melos...nothing..again..damn he's right..im so good at what i do just like A.I...me and him are beasts =)..and kobe isnt...i'll give him credit..he takes over the game whenhe needs to...but were talkin bout the nuggets and why they suck

Yeah, Jordan had teams that were put together with intelligent design. Him and Pip were probably the only true all-stars, but other players were brought inwho complimented their style and were able to adjust to playing with Jordan and Pip. And of course, playing within the Triangle. Iverson has never had thattype of intelligent design set-up around him nor has he had a coach that has been able to orchestrate a great system for him to flourish in. Iverson has thesame drive, determination, passion and desire for the game as Jordan or any other player, I don't think that can be doubted at all. He's definietly a'champion' in my book, regardless. Hell, the guy stays injured and unlike most pampered athletes today, he's not going to cry about it to the mediaor play it up, he just plays day in and day out. Can't deny the dude...
