NIKE'S FALL '09 FOOTBALL CLEATS UP ON EASTBAY

Probably my second favorite cleats of all time...my first being these from 1997...
#16, the stud in the forground, is wearing them. I don't recall what their name was but they were the flagship cleat for that season before the Apocalypse line started.
Been following this thread. I had the turf version, which was called the Air Max Speed Turf. IMO, they were the illest shoes ever. I'massuming they were called the Air Max Speed. Hope that helps. MoO, Rock, or Gunna, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Somebody found them on the instylshoes.com page: The Nike Air Zoom Pro Streak

The only problem was their weight. The difference between the cleated version and the Air Max turf version was huge.

All versions, as well as the molded shark model, yuck, were out in the fall of 1997. They were first debuted on New Years Day of 1997 by all of the highprofile Nike teams playing in New Years Day bowl games.

I first remember, while being ridiculously hungover, watching BYU and Steve Sarkisian, now the USC O.C.,
play in the Cotton Bowl against Kansas State.

Another pretty good player, this one from Michigan, wore them throughout his Heisman award-wining season.

The late, great Reggie White wore/debut the Air Pro Streak Max when he played for the Packers. It was definitely a heavy shoe. A premier Lineman's shoeback in the day.

Yessuh,

I had the Turfs.
as far as style goes, they were the best cleats.
but Air Mission had best combo of style, feel and comfort.

I got the new Eastbay in the mail today and there's some GREAT stuff in there. I scanned a few of the pages. Here they are:

I am not a fan of Under Armour and here is further evidence why:
1. The UA Proto Speed D is an exact ripoff of this years' Vapor Jet 4.2!

99044181_z.jpg
18907181_z.jpg

2. The UA Combat Mid D look EXACTLY like a pair of Nike Zoom cleats from about 4 years ago, right around the same time as the Torque.

99043101_z.jpg

Might need to Re-up them pics...I can't see them

But uhh, I never really felt those Under Armour cleats....

Honestly, I only like a few cleats other than Nikes..

The RBK's that Steve Smith/D-Lo Hall wore.....and the Plain 3 striped adidias that Arkansas/Lousiville wore.

Just FYI to those UA Detractors. Even Nike knows they are going to be pushing Nike as far as sales go with Cleats. UA is marketing to MANY different levels asNike doesn't go after anything but the niche market that appears to be the typical market.

Trust me. UA will be makin strides in the next few years. They are forced to be creative with less. Also, its hard NOT to replicate some designs when it comesto football, but UA may go the route of making their Cleats Transcend Football.

Shhhhhhhh... Check the Sig.

I am EXTREMELY underwhelmed by the Super Bad 2's even in the TB colorways. As for the Super Speeds, If I were still playing, it's ten yearsgone since I graduated from College, Those are what I'd be wearing, FOR SURE!

My favorite day dream, when I'm bored in meetings and such, is to make a mental checklist of all the gear that I would need for football, ranging from theNike Pro stuff to the gloves to cleats for:
1. Home
2. Away Grass
3. Away Field Turf
4. Turf Shoes, Which I absoluttely LOVE the Nike Air Speed Destroyer in Black/White
5. Practice cleats
6. Cold gear
7. Warm Gear
8. New Facemasks
9. Wrist Coaches
10. Forearm Shimmels
ETC.

God, I miss that game!

Rock, that might be true within the not-so-distant future, but Nike is still king. If there is any doubt, calculate how many D-1A as well as D-1AAschools are, if not Nike endorsed, wearing Nike template uniforms and compare that number to what UA is doing.

Their rise has been phenomenal, however many people, myself included, still consider them nothing more than a feisty competitor.

And as Gunna stated, it might, in fact, be difficult to stray too far from similar design, but those two so closely resemble each other, and in the same yearno less! That is bush-league!

By the way, GGY: If memory serves, Jacobs wore UA all through last season. His hottest pair was worn in the NFC Championship game in Green Bay: They werecompletely silver, like Mylar, with Royal accents.

Oh, and M.O.O., I have searched all over for Reggie White in Streaks. All I have found are pics of Santana Dotson and Gilbert Brown wearing them!

White liked these:

Favre and his Zoom Jet Turfs, which I still own!

Oh, and one more find:

It seems that the Vector is taking UA's lead and plagiarizing from the incumbant masters:

Reebok V.Young Electrify Nike Speed Vapor D.

NO EXCUSES!!!

I was forced to wear reeboks in college, Never AGAIN.

I just got the Vapor Jet 4.2 D from the employee store yesterday. I was hoping for the molded because I like them better on field turf but it's not thatbig of a deal. I wore them to run routes in today and they felt great. The screw-in cleats are clear which looks pretty cool.

As was I, however we were only a partiallly endorsed program so we could voluntarily wear the Vector. Much against instinct, I went with them my sophomoreyear and still regret the decision. After 5 practices, I went back to the Nike's that I was always comfortable in!

And a real world example:
Check out the pic of Jacobs running against GB:

Jacobs is wearing the Schutt Air Advantage helmet.
#51 is wearing the brand new Air XP.

Notice the difference in size of the vented holes at the top of the crown as well as the indent wear the earhole is!

I can't find a pic of LeVar Arrington from two years ago, other than him writhing on the ground in Dallas, but he was one of the first players to wear theSchutt DNA with their "Bulldog" facemask!

Lorenzo Neal, the bowling ball fullback in front of LDT, wears this on a Riddell VSR-1 helmet!

LDT's is pretty intimidatin as well:

I sincerely think that this is one of the coolest/scariest facemasks I have ever seen! It is called the "Bulldog"

orig_youth_dna_pro-webXL.jpg

It is called the "Bulldog" , it is part of Shutt's "moto-cross" line. Call me crazy, I think it more resembles this guy:

If they're on Eastbay then they will be on Foot Locker, Foot Action, Champs, and ESPNShop as well!
You can use the same sku, item #, from Eastbay for all of them!

How on Earth did you get all of those PE's?
1. The Silver Mirror soles are INCREDIBLE!
2. Those Assassin Destroyers are SICK!
I would assume those are Hines Ward's or Big Ben's?
3. The only part of Jackson's cleats that I like are the soles.

Ummmmmm that reminds me...

ROCK
... HOLLA AT ME!!!!!!!! I forgot all about the PE Hines. I still got ya email addy somewhere Imma hit u up if I have to

Dre Used to be on point with his Detroit Lion Colorway Jordan Cleats

I wish my boy Trav still played for the Rams, just so I can get a hold of some Beast Jackson Gear.

Check out the outrigger on these Assassin Destroyers, They are the same as the new Speed Destroyers...were they perhaps a partial prototype for thisyear's model? Hmmm
