ESPN Insider Request NBA Rumor Central

Rudy Gay may not be on the level of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, but the restricted free agent should get a lot of attention by clubs with cap room. According to Ronald Tillery of The Commercial-Appeal, one team in the upper Midwest fancies Gay.

Tillery writes: "One team that will make a strong run at Gay is the Minnesota Timberwolves. Team owner Glen Taylor and president of basketball operations David Kahn have already targeted Gay as an attainable player to uplift the struggling franchise.

Memphis owner Michael Heisley has stated on several occasions that the club will match any offer sheet he signs with another team.

While preparing for free agency and the World Champions, Gay has taken up training like a boxer.

"I'm not fighting anyone," Gay said. "I'm going through the training. There's no more in-shape athlete than a boxer."
