ID on old pair that a friend just picked up

Hi there - a friend of mine just picked up this pair of shoes for close to nothing, and we're wondering what the model is called? We've never seen a shoe like it before and we haven't managed to find anything on the internet either - so please help us!

The only thing I can suggest is..., check the tag inside the shoes to find the product code that looks like 123456-789 (probably, w/o "-") and google it.

None of it gives any results. This is weird

Not that weird. It just means that shoe was never really popular enough to be remembered by someone.
