The whole concept of prison at it stands today is not helpful to people. Solitary confinement? Completely ineffective if the goal is to rehabilitate an individual.
Society today uses prison as a method of punishment rather than a method of reform. This is why the rate of reincarceration is so high.
You might think that the "doing the time" is good for society but all we are doing are *#%%!*% them up even worse.
In reality...NOBODY wins.
