The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Technically the loss was at 170, he's ranked 4th at 155 and smashed Michael johnson

When Khabib gonna fight though?

Also, I wanna see Pettis vs Edgar/Aldo at 145

I was only half kidding obviously, but the UFC has shown that they are about making that money above anything else, so something like Nate receiving an immediate title shot despite coming off of a loss would not shock me. I know I'd definitely watch that.
Oh you were? Lol but it's a real possibility. Wouldn't be surprised if they did this or tried to make it happen

Wonder how the weight cut is going for pettis. Dude was a lean lightweight without fat or bulk on him. I thought he might've been better off just getting stronger and putting on some weight.

I feel Conor will be fighting Alvarez next. He has said many times that he isn't excited to fight Aldo again after beating him in 13 seconds. He also made a good point during the post fight presser about the possibility of the UFC stripping him if he doesn't fight Aldo, that it would heavily devalue the belt by giving it back to someone who isn't truly the champion. Plus, early estimates showing UFC 202 ppv buys are the top 3 most ever buys in UFC history gives him more time to hold onto the belt before they actually do decide to strip him.

I feel bad for Khabib. He needs a fight. I would have liked to see Ferguson vs Khabib actually go down, but Ferguson is going to fight RDA. Unless you feed Nate Diaz to Khabib for the #1 contender spot, and winner gets Conor/Alvarez.

Anyone watching Bellator tonight? :nerd: :nerd:

I could easily see Conor facing Aldo or Alvarez next. Anyone have any ideas of a wildcard opponent?

Looks like the main fighters made weight this morning

Oliveria weighed in at 143

A champ refusing to defend his title also devalues it, the organization needs to strip him.

An Undefended title being held by someone with no intent to ever return to the division is more worthless than an interim title won in a fight between the two top contenders.

He can say nothing interests him and they're all bums, but it means nothing without proving it through dominant defenses.

The belt devalues every time he fights without defending it
100% agree he's just talking to talk

@TheHealthInspector   I also tried to rep you but I ran outta reps

It'll be the Ultimate Pool Noodle Fighting Championships with generic Cialis replacing Monster as a sponsor.

Delusional Dana is trying to say Rousey's comeback will top Diaz/McGregor 1&2 numbers.

She's losing more fans by the day with that sorry quitter attitude after getting destroyed.

he'll just talk about being suicidal again because people don't like him.

Diaz with the shot at McGregor with the "obsessed" comment lol also does he realize fertittas are gone

And McGregor aint fighting a grappler at 170. Gsp would whoop him easy. He realizes now size is a factor and doubt he goes up to 70 again.

No way McGregor wants it with GSP... well if they give him another record payday then possibly.

If Conor gets the LW shot I'd like to see them make Barboza-Khabib.

Wonder who they next match Nate with, could see Poirier if he beats Johnson (still don't get why they paired up those two).

there's really no risk/big reward if conor fights anyone but aldo. he still parades as 145 lb champ and fights a bigger guy. gets a big payday regardless if he loses and he was testing himself by moving up weight classes. if he wins he can brag even more and if it's vs. alvarez he's champ in two divisions

how many big fights are there for diaz? he's moving back down to 155, but also says alvarez and the belt doesn't really interest him. i guess the ufc would have to throw big money for that to happen, but is that a big draw?

I didn't catch that PVZ was complaining about money. Why didn't she do the kick boxing movie then? WWE also approached her about Summer Slam.

Most of these opportunities wouldn't have happened without the UFC. She, along with Sage, are rising stars. It's not like she's been fighting for 10+ years like Diaz (she might have made more money than him before the McGregor fights).

I wish her luck. I just don't see her touching JJ. Rose absolutely demolished her. She has a ways to go.

Some of you guys are focusing on the messenger rather than the message. Fighters should make way more money for what they do and how successful the UFC has become

No, PVZ doesn't deserve to get veteran money but her message is still true. I give her credit for being dedicated to fighting when she could easily do something less dangerous. Only way their situation will improve is if they somehow unionize since the ownership will always keep the money for themselves and the select few fighters

Anyway, now that Pettis has been training more with Jackson and Brandon Gibson, this should be interesting

I think I saw an article the other day that compared boxing/MMA pay. It looked like besides the anamolies of a Floyd, Pacman, etc, the average boxer gets paid more than MMA fighters. So I don't disagree with Paige, Cung Lee, Rory McDonald, etc.

Nate was getting robbed up until March. Connor the first fighter to push the envelope and get what he deserves.

Hopefully the PFA and MMFA (or whatever they're called) can get on the same page and make something happen for these fighters. I listened to the MMA Hour and Leslie Smith discussed her tumor issues and how difficult it was for Zuffa to pay for her to get treated.

Zuffa was notoriously anti Union and maximizing profits/Minimize spending.

I'm always complaining in the thread about how poor a job they do in promoting their fighters. JBJ, despite being a stupid human being (well immature), is a once in a lifetime talent. He should be the Lebron of the UFC. Dude is P4P. He makes it look easy. Not to say he's not getting paid...but he should be making more.

And maybe Connor should fight Alvarez. Aldo fights Max Holloway.

MVP with a special announcement on this Bellator card right now?

Rory fight?

Edit: never mind
