i think it'll be an interesting fight. he's long and has good scrambling abilities, good cardio, good striking.

it's at least more interesting than dc/bader

Completely forgot that Hendo is fighting tomorrow. For a FN card, its actually a really good card.

Read something recently asking why Hendo doesn't get the same heat Belfort, Sonnen, etc got for taking TRT and how since he's been off of it, we've seen a downturn in his performance.

Hendo's been loved by fans for a long time. I don't hear much crap talked about his trt use.

Yeah Gus is living off his loss to Jones almost the same way Chael lived off his loss to Anderson. Except Chael was actually beating other top ranked contenders at Middleweight.

Hendo has the whole buddies with Randy thing going for him . Folks overlook Dans TRT giving him a second prime when he honestly should have retired after the Jake Shields fight. Sure Dan blasted a few folks but dude is a relic in mma years. He is on the wrong side of 40 and I pray he doesn't end up like Terry Norris. Its weird right now Dan doesn't even try to wrestle or grapple with guys if he can't land that H Bomb and dictate the pace its any mans game .

Gus is a great fighter without a doubt but like most fighters coming from europe he struggles with opponents who can actually wrestle well. His boxing and stand up is great he is tall and uses that too his advantage. Each of his 3 major losses come from guys who are great wrestlers and barring Phil who has some very inefficient and gun shy striking are all good strikers Jones having a serious variety of ways to slow you down and Anthony who can put you away as fast as the bell is rung.

Gus issue has always been offensive and defensive grappling the fact his grappling is still somewhat developing in the sense he is just now working with high level grapplers compared to life long grapplers instinct wise he still has a ways to go his main goal is to keep the fight standing . He was extremely good against Jones because they match up well .Where jones is deficient in places with his striking mainly his jab and circular movement Gus made him pay for it. But the sheer tenacity that Jones fights with and creativity put him ahead of Gus.

Against Rumble Gus probably showed his vulnerability the most. Rumble has some pretty good power and probably can one hit KO most guys if he gets you on the button . Plus Rumble is wrestler by trade . That fight he walked Gus down and Gus was on defense that whole fight. Thats why the KO was real quick after the eye poke. Rumble didn't need much room or space for takedown and gus threw out a poorly thought out body kick.

What makes the DC fight a tough one for Gus is the fact one he is gonna be punching down that whole fight against a guy who chain wrestles and is looking to grind you out.Gus can't copy what Jones did solely because his pedigree isn't that great in offensive grappling. DC isn't gonna stand with Gus because being on the end of that Jab is a dumb idea. DC is accustomed to the size disadvantage he has . He is gonna go into the fight being the better grappler who has tossed around some of the best grapplers in the sport.

DC could try to go in swing up or he can go straight for the body and wear gus out to the point his arms are too heavy to box him and just gnp him into infinity.

Gus is gonna have to put on a striking clinic early and get DC to switch his game plan from wrestling to controlling the fight both ways. Its a potentially good fight if Gus is prepared and brings in some wrestlers who are shorter than him and are great at clinching and dirty boxing. Chances of finding that in Europe and those guys being russians is very high. This is DCs fight to lose imo. Gus has to be on his A game. I think DCs power is gonna be interesting he hasn't really smashed anybody lately and due to his hand breaks in the past he seems to not try to just hammer guys to death. He was hitting Jon with some great shots though its just Jon has a great chin and heart

Thing about DC is he is very durable on the feet. Proved it against Jones. Proved it against Rumble and also during his whole run as a HW.

Gus would have to NEVER let DC close the distance and get inside (which I can't remember anyone actually doing for a whole fight) and pick him apart from the outside for 25 minutes.

Watched some of the weigh-ins. Cool bit was Medeiros went to Poiriers room before the weighins and told him he wasn't going to make weight and apologized. Stand up thing to do.

Very interested to see how Dustin reacts to an opponent with longer reach at 155, I always felt like Dustin has struggled when fighting someone he didn't have the reach advantage over

DC could walk through Alex I feel like the UFC is setting Alex up to fail by letting him comeback off a lose and facing a guy who is more than likely gonna dominate him in a way at pushes him out of title contention

For Gus to win he would have to bring his A game and hope DC somehow ***** the bed. I fully expect DC to get in close, clinch, push him up against the cage, dirty box, take Gus down then and grind him out for a finish.

Dc hits hard if he closes the distance and gets Gus against the cage of clinches with him he can really put a beating on Gus .The more I think of this fight the only way Gus can win is if he some how figures how to KO folks walking back like Chuck used to

Gus is going to be on the mat for about 23.8 minutes of the fight. In that 1.2 minutes standing, if Gus can get the KO he can win

Honestly I can see Weidman moving up soon . He can def fight his way into the top 10 of the LHW I can see them putting him against Jimi Manuwa and maybe glover to see if he can hang .They are gonna need some big fights soon

Maybe in a few years. A lot can happen in this sport, especially injuries. He still has a lot to do in the near future in Rockhold, Souza and possibly a third opponent like Romero or a rematch

Weidman v Jones both being undisputed champs at Madison Square Garden for the LHW title would be

If Jones comes back strong he could move up himself which would definitely leave the division in shambles
