The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Hendricks struggled with Condits bottom game. I think Nick is just as active in that regard.

And considering the fight would be over 5 rounds i think it would be interesting.

Hendricks is on the shelf for a few months with a torn bicep according to Helwani.

If Matt Brown gets through Erick Silva in May, I wouldn't hate seeing The Immortal get a shot at the strap.

I would love for Matt brown to get a shot but in hindsight he is fortuanate to possibly get a shot by defeating silva rather than condit

Hate it when fighters get injured but the Hendricks injury is probably gonna force Rory, Lombard, Woodley, and all that are campaigning for a title shot to take another fight.

I expect to see Rory fight in June at 174 just because its in Vancouver and without GSP, he'd be the biggest draw. Maybe against Woodley, but he'd probably get Dong Hyun Kim.

I have watched hendricks vs lawler for 5 times now. Everytime I watch it, it really looked like hendricks was not connecting cleanly in his striking, either lawler rolls with it, parried, or blocked. Plus lawler was dominating the last round until the last 2 minutes. So I am wondering why not even 1 judge scored it differently. But then again, it's in the champion's state and this is MMA judging hahaha.

Any news from lawler? The champ has been talking the past few days and I haven't seen or read an interview from lawler.

Thing is in mma dudes usually dodge punches by moving their body completely out the way. It's easy for judges to see the miss.

Lawler stayed in the pocket and rolled and parried and that's rare to see in the octagon. However it's not so easy for the judges to determine a clean shot from a block or miss. Given their vantage point and possible lack of knowledge i think they saw Hendricks throwing volume and touching him so they scored it accordingly.

Yes I know that. That's why after the match I thought the judging was fair.

And I don't see the hendricks 'fans' complaining about who did more damage hahaha.

Aldo v Mendes is highly logical and Mendes deserves a shot. Mendes was about to get a huge slam against Aldo their first fight but Aldo grabbed the fence. Can't wait to see this rematch I hope it happens.

Hope Cub gets past Stephens for another shot at gold. Then I hope Diamond makes his way to a shot as well.

Wonder how Duane Ludwig leave Team Alpha Male is gonna affect them. After he joined their striking was on point and they were knocking people out left and right.

Bang says he always had intentions of starting his own gym. Seems like it was pretty amicable. He is sticking around to help Dillashaw until his fight at 173.

After weeks of hearing Dana say that Anderson Silva would fight by the end of 2014, Silva finally said that he won't fight this year, but there's a chance he could fight again in the first half of 2015. And he doesn't see himself fighting for the belt again cause its too far away from him.

UFC president Dana White  was confident that Anderson Silva  would make his return to the Octagon by the end of 2014, but the former champion isn’t that optimistic.

Slowly returning to training after suffering a gruesome injury against Chris Weidman  atUFC 168  in December, Silva expects to fight again in 2015.

"These rumors that I’ll fight at UFC 181  or any other event around that date aren’t true," Silva told Combate. "This year is over for me. There’s a chance I’ll fight in the first half of 2015."

Whenever he returns to the cage, "The Spider" does not see himself fighting for the middleweight belt again.

"Anderson’s phase as the champion is over," he said. "Fighting for (the title) is a little far away from me."

Silva, who signed a 10-fight deal with the UFC right before suffering a leg injury against Weidman, expects to retire from the sport before his deal is done.

"I don’t see myself stopping (right now), but I don’t know if I will fulfill my 10-fight contract," he said. "My family has been asking me for years to stop fighting, and they need to understand that this is what I love to do and that I need to have my time. My goal in the sport was to become a reference in this sport, and I’m achieving this."

An article said faber decided to announce Ludwig's departure publicly and Ludwig was surprised since he wanted to wait a little bit.

JWP posted a pic with Faber and dudes were telling him to take Ludwig's place.  I LOLed. JWP is a legend in my book as far as foreign Muay Thai goes, Ludwig is just a kickboxer that went to MMA.

Edit: Not to discredit Ludwig, as he probably brings valuable striking knowledge as a coach for MMA fighters, but dude is not and should not rep Muay Thai whatsoever.

Aldo gives no dambs. Waiting on the Pettis response.
“Anthony Pettis talks a lot,” Aldo on Thursday told MMAjunkie through an intepreter. “He goes to the media and says that he’ll fight me in any division, but then he knows that (UFC President) Dana (White) is not going to have him move down a weight because they want me to give up my belt. Also, I think he’s going to lose to Melendez, so then he’s going to have to move back a little bit, and our time to fight will have gone by.”

“Pettis likes to talk a lot, but he does very little. So for right now, the plan is for me to stay at 145 pounds and defend the belt because obviously Pettis is going to be on ‘TUF.’ He’ll have all that time while he’s shooting the show, and he already has a fight scheduled with Melendez, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

“Anthony Pettis talks a lot to people, but when it comes time to actually make the fight happen, he runs,” Aldo said.
