The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

I've never seen anyone drop that quickly off a short jab like cowboy dropped, in any pugalistic combat sport.

I don't even understand how he didn't see it neither. That one boggles my mind

How about anderson silva vs forrest griffin? Spider was backpedaling when he threw that right.

doesn't take much if you hit someone cleanly on the chin.

and overeem should have beaten browne, i still can't believe he survived all those knees.

I wouldn't say Reem and Barnett are superior to Browne. Reem has no gas tank himself and has a glass chin. Barnett can be one dimensional and is definitely old as dirt. Browne got lucky IMO in the Reem fight but I wouldn't say Reem is superior at all. Barnett pretty much put up no challenge at all and couldn't take Browne down, which was the only way he would win.

Yeah by superior i meant from a mma skillset standpoint.

Browne's only notable skills are throwing and taking bombs at this point. Up until Saturday night it's been a winning formula and those particular attributes can take you a long way, especially in the heavyweight division. That being said i think he would lose both rematches if they ever happened.

I think Browne's striking is pretty diverse and he did hold off Barnett's take down attempts, though the fight didn't last long. From a skillset stand point of course Reem and Barnett should have the upperhand, they are all vets. Reem/Browne II would be interesting but I don't think Barnett has too many fights left in him tbh

Browne needed this type of loss to drive him to improve. He should be back in contention

Don't think we see Browne/Reem 2 anytime soon since Reem is gonna start training with Jackson/Winklejohn. Training there is gonna help Reem but Browne can learn a lot from him.

Jesus, Dana had the balls to say that 172 was the most stacked card in UFC history on his new vlog. The hyperbole train is running off the rails...

you guys gotta stop taking what he says to heart though

I don't even pay attention to the crap that Dana says anymore. But thinking about stacked cards, why can't they cut back on ppvs and actually have stacked cards like UFC 100? It had Lesnar/Mir, GSP/Alves, Hendo/Bisping and the prelims had Jon Jones, Jim Miller, TJ Grant, Stun Gun, etc.

They can have a stacked card, then have 2 top 10 fighters main event the prelim with a bunch of rising stars.

As long as there's money to be made it will continue man. Can you blame them for striking while the iron is hot? They have the Fox deal they are milking it for all it's worth. I do not blame them. I hate these watered down cards but at the same time they are looking at the $$$$ and in the end that's their decision. Can't really argue with them for wanting money. They are still putting on the fights we want to see at the same time..

UFC 175 will be stacked. Lets hope they continue to put solid fights together.

Machida vs. Weidman Title Fight
Rousey vs. Davis Title Fight
Sonnen vs. Wanderlei
Cormier vs. Hendo
Uriah Hall vs Thiago Santos

it's pretty cool to see a guy i know, Andre Fili, make it to the UFC and now get onto a main card.  Hoping he does well this weekend

I have been and most likely will always be a Jon Jones fan.. I'm pulling for him this weekend. I really hope that this big-headed cockiness is only temporary. I know that he's confident, but I remember before one of his old fights he had stopped a robbery that was taking place right after his meditation. It really made me think that he was a humble dude who meditated to clear his mind and concentrate on winning. He doesn't even come off as a dude who meditates anymore, comes off as just another MMA meat head that hits pads and talks crap about how good he is. He lost to Gustafsson for sure, got lucky.. I really hope that that was a wake up call.

Jones is just a different type dude. I don't think he's going to change anytime soon. Win or lose he'll keep the same oddball personality. I don't have a problem with him really but at the same time I don't really like him either. As a fighter, he is probably my favorite fighter if not then Pettis.

Kinda weird to analyze someone's personality based on if you think they don't meditate anymore.

Was never a fan of his but his fights are entertaining. Seems like fans are split on liking him or not. Looking back, it was cool how popular Chuck and Randy were.

Meditation isn't something you do to impress anyone. It isn't a highlight interesting thing that people will think you're badass for doing. It's something that he did for himself to relax his mind before going to war. For a fighter to meditate close to the fight, in my book, shows a level of maturity and sense of humbleness.

If anyone else has done martial arts here, they'll know there' s a huge difference between the people who angrily hit pads and simply use brute strength during training, and the people who throw a right leg kick 500 times in one night just to learn how to throw it properly. I like a humble, intellectual fighter over a brutal meat head any day.

That's fine I just don't know how you came to the conclusion that Jones is just another MMA meathead

His overall attitude has changed. He's talking crap to other fighters, underestimating his opponents and not taking training serious because of it. I saw it in the Gustafsson fight.

Like I said, I've always been a fan and it'll probably stay that way, but I just hope he isn't losing the humbleness that made me a fan in the first place.

As soon as he became champ the hate started accumulating fast.

I think he's keeping it together pretty well considering the amount of **** that gets slung his way.

I like Jones more now he doesn't seem as fake and forced

Seems like he's being himself now

Plus he's got a bad *** Raptor

Diego meditates and acts like a fool all the time. Can't assume anything with these fighters. If a fighter does a yes cartwheel then he's alright in my book.
