- In Gran Turismo 5 every player has his or her very own private racing lobby online called "My Lounge." Only people on your PlayStation®Network Friends list can enter. In My Lounge, players can pick the track of their choice, set up custom race regulations, and hold private custom racing events with their friends. People in the lounge can even do free runs around the track before the race begins. Up to 16 players can race together, up to 32 can be in a single lobby. In the lobby you can check your friends progress, post messages a la Twitter style in 140 characters, send cars and part upgrades to friends, share your epic car pics and upload your replays to YouTube.

- New to the Gran Turismo series is damage. Cars will now take damage like never seen before. This will include both mechanical and external damage modeling, including a real-time deformation engine that will process model deformation according to the speed and angle of impact. The vehicles in GT5 will be separated into "standard" and "premium" vehicles. Standard vehicles will feature a very basic damage model with scratches, dirt and dents appearing on the car in the event of an accident as well as mechanical damage. The more detailed "premium" vehicles will feature the full damage model with more accurate damage such as panels being ripped off that will affect vehicle stability and control.

The tunning in Gran Tursimo 5 makes a return from Gran Turismo 4 but overhauled and revamped for the series. There are tunning levels for beginners and than there is advanced options for season vets. You'll be able to tune,

The Virtual Playground
- This wouldn't be Gran Turismo without tracks, and there is lots of them, all in glorious 1080p. Old tracks return to the 5th installment like the world famous Tsukuba and new ones appear for the first time, Top Gear Test track. Gran Turismo 5 will feature 26 different locations with a total span of 71 variations tracks. These include Nurburgring, Circuit de la Sarthe, Mazda's Laguna Seca Raceway and Suzuka Circuit. Some of the new circuits include are Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Monza circuit, Daytona International Speedweday. Many fictional circuits return from previous games in the series including Trial Mountian, Deep Forest Raceway, Special Stage Route 5, Special Stage Route 7 and many MORE.
