Nike Zoom Kobe VII

CounterKicks has exclusively obtained the first detailed photos of Kobe Bryant’s next signature shoe, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII.
The Zoom Kobe VII images show a continued evolution of the low cut line. A 3D print, line segmented design appears across a Skinwire/Flywire upper. ZKVII also features an extended outrigger, midfoot flex groove, carbon fiber shank plate, external TPU heel counter, heel crashpads, and Zoom Air cushioning.
Underfoot, the solid rubber outsole design advances aesthetically from the mamba snake inspired ornamentation of the previous Zoom Kobe VI. The new Zoom Kobe VII model exhibits a fractal geometric traction pattern and decoupled heel design.
In total, while this particular version of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII is an early prototype/development sample where continued refinements and changes will be made towards final production, it gives you the first multiple angle look at Kobe Bryant’s on-court game shoe for next season.
Over the course of the last several weeks, CounterKicks has obtained and developed the information on the Nike Zoom Kobe VII from one of our readers who contacted us (send us info: tips@counterkicks.com) and provided the images seen here exclusively to CK. That tipster has since listed his Zoom Kobe VII prototype on eBay.

NEW INFO 7/10/2011:
Nike Zoom Kobe VII Related To Sharks, Cheetahs & Snakes According To This Nike China Catalog

This Nike Basketball China catalog shows a shark, a cheetah, and a black mamba snake surrounding the Kobe “Sheath” logo. Thanks to CK’s great Chinese readership (♥) we have some translations and potential new details to Kobe Bryant’s next signature shoe, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII.
Let’s start with the imagery. Each of the pictured animals are situated next to bolded Chinese characters. In the theme of Kobe’s next shoe, sharks represent power and strength. Cheetahs represent speed and toughness. Black mamba snakes represent the ultimate predator.
With that context setting the table, according to someone who says they attended a Nike Spring 2012 meeting in China, we’re being told the Zoom Kobe VII concept represents two shoe models. There will be a regular version which features all the typical trimmings of the Kobe VII’s we’ve already shown you and an elevated price point Zoom Kobe VII "Supreme" edition. We’re also informed that there will be confirmed Zoom Air units embedded or attached directly to the bottom of the insoles and the fractal geometric outsole pattern (a bunch of triangles, basically – sorry herringbone traction fans) are what was given the green light for production. The higher price point Zoom Kobe VII Supreme supposedly showcases an internal booty/ankle fit system, transforming the shoes from cheetah “fast” to shark “strong”. If this story sticks true, it wouldn’t be a first in the Kobe Bryant line. Nike presented and sold the Zoom Kobe II concept as a three model shoe pack, exhibiting alternate styles for “Sheath,” “Strength,” and “Lite” looks.

Exclusive: Nike Zoom Kobe VII Brings Back Herringbone Traction Pattern Outsole, Sort Of

Here’s an exclusive first look at the actual Nike Zoom Kobe VII outsole going into production. This has been the subject of much debate, with prototype and wear test samples showing both the fractal geometric design and full-length herringbone pattern alternately. Even more, performance-focused sneaker fans have begged in vain for a return to herringbone since it was last used on the Zoom Kobe IV.
This new Kobe VII image looks like Nike Basketball decided to split the difference, literally. A segmented line provides herringbone traction to the medial side of the shoe, while the triangle-shaped solid rubber pattern takes care of the rest of the shoe. Also seen in this new image is the carbon fiber midfoot plate and what appears to be continued usage of the braille-like “KOBE KODE” embedded in the arched rubber at the midfoot point. Read through all our past coverage of Kobe Bryant’s next signature shoe, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII here, and check out the new photos below.
