This is my very first test shot with the Canon 600d (rebel t31) 50 mm 1.8 lens, no zoom though. Registered Member Posts: 5517 11/28/11 12:31 PM	a dslr doesn't make the pictures bro, you can get yourself a good quality P&S if the only thug you really want it for is your vacation pics....no need to invest in a dslr you cant even put into your pockets....I own two dslrs and a bunch of lenses and ask me how many times, i take them with me outside when on vaca?...not once, they just sit in my hotel room....i was actully thinking of investing in a good P&S for that same purpose. now if photography is something you want to get into, i must warn you, it becomes EXPENSIVE...but you might want to start off with a t3i and a niftyfifty (50mm 1.4) although for vacatiuon you might want a wider lens, in that case a tampon 28-75mm 2.8 is a great beginners walk around lens. *It's Jcrew, Bro.* *Im busy getting rich I don't want trouble* *You Live + You Dress Style Blog* *Its Jcrew, bro.*

The T2i & T3i are the best consumer models, but prices are still above what you're looking at. If you want to go "cheap" get an XSI and invest in a zoom lens so you can get distant shots too since the stock lens is only so-so. Registered Member Posts: 569 11/28/11 4:22 PM	hey fam, is no one familiar with the micro four thirds cams? search it, look at the panasonic gf1 or gf2. the gf3 isnt much better or improvements. interchangeable lens. sony has theirs nex series, but cost $200 more. nikon released theirs the "1" olympus also has theirs the ep series. but the panny is the best value i think thus far, they fall between $300-400 with kit lens black friday sales had great deals o nthem. they are compact, like P & S if not just a little bit thicker. but obviously shoot dlsr like photos due to the manual controls and interchangeable lens. i just got the panny, and im not even CLOSE to knowing how to take photos, ive always had P&S, this is my step up, to maybe one day get a DSLR.. i figure why waste money on an slr now and i wont even know what im doing. i also prefer portability. Registered Member Posts: 370 11/28/11 10:09 PM	You got almost a year before the trip. If you decide to get a DSLR, get one now, that way you'll be familiar with it by the time you go on your trip. If you go the P&S route, wait until before the trip to get the best one for your money.
