I can never get down with the shin pads on the 998.

That's a common problem on the 991v2. The material used on the toe box area is very cheap. It can crease easily if you have wide feet.

If it's anything like the 2020 release, then it should be near impossible.

I own a few pairs and non of them squeak. This 'sounds' like a manufacturing issue, a poorly constructed midsole.
