From what I've tried it has very subtle flavours that you don't always find in Scotch. In general you can't go wrong with it. But the household names (mostly from Nikka & Suntory) are either not really Japanese or way overpriced. Still need to try the Yamazaki 18 though, but I don't expect I...

anyone got experience with: - Glenlivet 25 years - Ballantine's 30 - Dewars 25 or 30 - Amrut Greedy Angels 8 years old - Bruichladdich Black Art 6.1 Still doing some research on my next purchase. Really looking for value for money here, as far as that exists in this price range.

:lol my girl don't know anything about prices. Those are pretty decent prices tho, Y12 is about 130-160 over here. H18 cheapest I can find is 460. And that's euros not dollars. Some places are already asking 180 for Y12 and 650 for H18 smh

Not a fan since it's not a "true" Japanese whisky. Technically it's just Scotch that's aged in Japan. One of the Japanese options I am considering is the Hakushu 18. I could swing that one and the HP 30 if I stretch my budget a bit :lol

It's 300 (euros) right now. But like I said, there's not much else available over here. Next best thing is Michter's 10 for 210.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about that one but that's virtually the only limited/premium bourbon that's available over here.

Next month I'm receiving a bonus from work and I'm looking buy myself something special. I'm looking to spend about a 1000 on one or two bottles but I'm having a hard time deciding. The bottle(s) I'm purchasing will be closed for a long time and it would be nice if they were also a good...

I've just had the regular NAS Yoichi, which I liked but it's not terribly good value at 80 euros. The apple brandy wood I haven't tried yet. I'm trying to finish some bottles first to make room in my cabinet

Glenlivet 12 is so underrated. Can't fault it for anything, except maybe not being complex enough. Nice pickups!

Tried the Wee Beastie today, was positively surprised. The nose didn't do much for me, but on the palate it was a nice combination of light spice, peat smoke and sweetness. Not as violent as the nose suggested. An absolute steal at around 40 euros, but the Ten still takes the cake.

Not quite a Yamazaki 18 but got this one on the way... Peat & apple sounds like a good combination. Anyone try this yet?

Ordered on the 9th of June, first there were issues getting the orders out so it didn't ship until the 22nd of June. Then it spent 2 months in a DHL warehouse awaiting a security inspection. Now finally on my doorstep! Really looking forward to this one, the 2020 Feis Ile bottling.

I just had a sample, honestly I found it quite intense and added some water to calm it down a bit. Saving the bottle for my son Ezra's 7th birthday, will open it then.

Most 'whisky purists' have no problem with adding some water to their Scotch. There are some cask strength obsessed people out there that think the higher the proof the better and adding water is a sin  However you like to drink it is the best way to drink it. When I try a new whisky I...

Hide Ya Wives, Hide Ya Kids: Worldwide Coronavirus Pandemic!

Hasn't herd immunity been debunked already? Over here it was all over the news a couple of weeks ago how the antibodies only remain in the body for about 2 months. So also if there's a vaccine you would have to get an injection every 2 months for it to be effective.

How's that Classic Laddie? I realized I've never had anything by Bruichladdich. I think I've only had an Octomore sample, but nothing under their regular branding.
