    Libor Rate Fixing Scandle Uncovered

I think this will garner more and more attention over time as other banks become caught up in this scandal (no way Barclays went about this alone or else it couldn't possibly be rigged). Interesting how the public outrage isn't greater, I think it's a combination of people not understanding the...

OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

Pretty sums up my view, however the press conference afterwards was slightly dovish (cautionary). I expect future Fed announcements to continue to toe the line using language/press conference without any fundamental changes in policy until after presidential elections barring any major changes...

Usually read the usual Bloomberg, WSJ, Economist. For headline news I always follow Ransquawk and Forex Factory. Earningswhispers and Stocktwits are helpful for equities as well. French elections should make things volatile from now until May 6. The race is Hollande's to lose...

Leveraged ETF's can be deadly because of tracking error and the math behind compounding. If it doesn't trend strongly, then you will get killed if it's a sideways market.

OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

I could see a bit of a relief rally next week, but there's a possibility that Spain could rear its ugly head and cause headline fear similar to Greece except that Spain is 4-5 times the size of Greece and is the 4th biggest country in the EU excluding UK. The Spanish debt auction today was ugly...

OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

Hard to quantify what the effect would be on the GBP with the Olympics, because average turnover in FX markets daily is ~$4- $4.5 trillion a day, but it could drive up inflation forcing the Bank of England to be less open to QE which would be GBP positive in a round about way. I thought GBP/USD...

I get my charts from Reuters but there are a few good places where you can get nice charts for free. Metatrader 5 is excellent for FX charts and so is Ninjatrader 7. You could also open a demo account with OANDA and use their charts too. Some other free tools I use are: 1) Ransquawk (a squawk...

Yeah I like indicators as well, I left out the RSI because it was bunching up the chart. Someone told me technical analysis is as much art as science, one chart could mean completely different things for two people. I think it just depends what works for you and if it fits your trading style. I...

OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

Longer term I think EUR/USD will hit 1.20 - 1.25, but that's dependent on number of issues: 1) Debt issues which could take a few quarters to materialize. I think Spain is on the chopping block next and Italy is a dark horse 2) European Central Bank (ECB) Policy. Don't think they're going to...

OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

I'm doing alright, I feel I have a better grasp of it than equities because I do it for a career (at the moment but it's flow trading not speculative trading) and on my own. It's completely different trading with your money so I'm not where I want to be return wise (5% YTD but with a effort) but...

OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

I bought some 15 jan 2013 calls a few weeks ago mostly based on short positioning and overall pessimism surrounding rimm. On almost almost all valuation metrics rimm was undeervalued imo and the likelihood of them going belly up is slim because they have a pretty strong balance sheet. The...

OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

A chance that RIMM may be poised to breakout today after yesterdays terrible (but honest) earnings. Made a lot of structural changes at the top and the new CEO Thorsten seems like he is refocusing on business side of things and willing to partner with other firms in areas where RIMM isn't...

OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

Thanks nocomment6. Sears is the best performing stock in the S&P500 year to date... There's been countless articles saying this was an epic short squeeze. I just think the business strategy needs to change and liquidating assets doesn't generate shareholder value. Just my 2 cents though!
