∞True Detective Season 1 Thread ***CLOSED***∞

HBO will be doing an encore of the first season of TD starting on Sept. 14 continuing into November. Yes it's on HBOgo, but this is for the people who want that week to week feeling like how it originally aired.

Looks like the reason why nothing has been announced yet because TD S2 will most probably premiere in Summer 2015

Looks like HBO’s biggest mystery has just been solved. Reports indicate fans of the critically acclaimed anthology series “True Detective” can anticipate a summer premiere for the show’s second season. As if we didn’t already have enough reasons for loving the sunny season! It’s been announced “True Detective” would air its sophomore season in June 2015 rather than follow in it’s snowy-footsteps of a January premiere. Apparently HBO has its sights set on using “True Detective” as a way to fill the void left by the beloved vampire drama "True Blood," which came to an end this summer after seven seasons.

Summer Sundays with new TD? I'm with it.

As long as the cast is solid.. I trust the writing.

TD replacing TB = many seasons to come :pimp:

Rosario Dawson, Jessica Biel Also Up for ‘True Detective’ Season 2 Female Lead
Posted on Tuesday, September 16th, 2014 by Angie Han

True Detective Season 2 already has a great male cast in place, with Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Vince Vaughn all signed on for major roles. But it’s had a tougher time trying to pin down the female lead.

Elisabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams have both been named as possibilities in recent weeks, but neither’s clinched the role quite yet. Now seven more actresses are entering the mix, including Rosario Dawson and Jessica Biel. Hit the jump for the latest on the True Detective Season 2 female lead casting.

TheWrap’s Jeff Sneider got his hands on a list of seven actresses who’ve been invited to read for the True Detective Season 2 female lead part: Rosario Dawson, Jessica Biel, Malin Akerman, Jaimie Alexander, Brit Marling, Oona Chaplin, and Kelly Reilly.

That’s in addition to Moss and McAdams, who are still in the running as far as we know. All the actresses are up for the same character, a no-nonsense Monterey sheriff named Ani Bezzarides who had a tough childhood and now struggles with gambling and alcohol addictions.

Of the seven new names, Biel and Dawson are the most famous of the pack, and Sneider seems to think they’re the favorites. Marling, Chaplin, and Reilly are not as well known as the other and are considered longer shots as a result.

Akerman and Chaplin have previous experience with HBO, from The Comeback and Game of Thrones, respectively. Alexander starred in an HBO pilot called Open that failed to get picked up. Marling and Reilly are just coming off of small-screen projects — Danny Boyle’s Babylon for the former and ABC’s Black Box for the latter.

All of the candidates could use the buzz of a prestigious HBO role. Chaplin, Marling, Reilly, and Alexander could use it to raise their profiles, while Akerman, Biel, and Dawson could take advantage of the opportunity to break out of their usual pretty-girl roles and show some serious leading-lady chops. With time running out, expect to hear an official announcement soon.

I wouldn't want to see the majority of those females just cuz of the lack of talent.

Interested to see ol girl from Full House though

Maybe Jamie Alexander and Oona Chaplin. I know Brit Marling could pull it off with this type of show but I don't care to see her looks wise.

HBO confirms Colin and Vince.

COLIN FARRELL AND VINCE VAUGHN CONFIRMED TO STAR IN THE SECOND SEASON OF HBO’S TRUE DETECTIVE; JUSTIN LIN SET TO DIRECT FIRST TWO EPISODES

The eight-episode hour-long drama is set to begin production later this fall in California.

Logline:
Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

The series is created and written by Nic Pizzolatto.

Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes.

Cast:

Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.

Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

Additional casting will be announced as it is confirmed.

I havent watched season 1 yet, but will season 2 not have anything to do with 1? totally different?

Vince ehh I said the same thing about Matthew . Women will be pissed they didn't get two women.
The main characters have been stretched to 3 no? Don't know why they didn't announce the female lead but that was all but confirmed up to this point. They might have changed it but imo that's worse than just ignoring the ppl crying about it.
