Not sure why Illinois is on the outside looking in for the initial Top 25 you posted up. Talent wise they are certainly there and Zook has proved he can coachthem up. I'd put them in there over FSU, ND, UNC, Nebraska.

always look forward to cfb...not too high on my wolverines this year tho
laugh.gif

i need the ducks to finish above cal for some random bet i made tho

Golic and Kaslius (sp) were talkin yesterday about Notre Dame winnin 11 or more games this year.......ESPN already in prime form.

I hope this is the year that Juice finds some consistency.

I was watching the Illinois/OSU game from 2 years ago and he was doing work even though he didn't throw for a lot of yards.

And they have ?'s on defense.

And I agree Shannon, I don't see why those teams are so high.

Losing Tate and Nicks is going to be a blow to that UNC offense. Maybe Droungs (Sp?) and Houston are ready to bear the brunt of the work.
my wolverines this year tho
You should be excited. Lots of young talent on that team. Denard Robinson, Jeremy Gallon, Vincent Smith, etc

Growing pains, yes of course. But by the end of the season, they could be a fun team to watch.

Just let RR get 2 more recruiting classes in there.

Zook can't coach for $**@. Worst game day coach in the world. There is a reason why he averaged 4 Ls a year at UF. Urban won a MNC with mostly Zook playersin 06 while Zook loses 3 regular season games in 05 (his best year). Zook does not deal with expectations.

yeah you're right about being excited to see the young dudes do work. it's just kinda lame when you know a 5-6 win season is a maybe. butyeah, RR does need time to get his guys into the system.

They are 2 years removed from a 9-4 season so this team has proved it can win and the talent level is there, that's all I am saying.

WAYYYY off-topic but last night the entire Oregon football squad was at Olive Garden... and it's the never-ending pasta bowl time of year... I wasseated by the defensive line and these boys were straight destroying bowl after bowl.
laugh.gif
It was also only a few days after Masoli's birthday apparently, so they had the Olive Garden crew come out and sing their littlejingle... the offensive line got up and was dancing with them.

So, how many people will get ejected this year w/ the new rule about helmet to helmet tackling and 'launching' yourself in to the opposition?

Jeez.

BC still looking for Herzlich's replacement, think Gunna may have brought this kid's name up in the other post:

Dominick LeGrande on money for BC

ominick LeGrande was an All-State quarterback as a senior at Curtis High in Staten Island, N.Y., but he was realistic.

He knew he didn't have the arm to be a quarterback for a big-time college football program, so he set his sights on safety, cornerback or maybe even wide receiver.

"But I never thought in a million years that I'd be a linebacker," the current Boston College sophomore said with a laugh.

That, however,is exactly what LeGrande is.

A safety as a true freshman, LeGrande was asked to moved to linebacker last spring when Mike McLaughlin tore his Achilles.

Then, after Mark Herzlich was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, LeGrande found himself not just at linebacker but starting in Herzlich's spot on the strong side.

"It is definitely daunting, but I just have to stick with it and work hard," said LeGrande, who's added 15 pounds to his 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame since last fall. "When Mark has been here, he's really helped me a lot in telling me what to look for on defenses. He's been a big help."

While no one expects LeGrande to do everything Herzlich, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, was able to do, he is receiving a lot of high marks. In BC's three scrimmages, he's recorded 10 tackles, a sack and an interception.

"I don't know if he's good enough yet, but he's made progress and he's got enthusiasm," coach Frank Spaziani said. "He's running with the first group, so it's not hard to have enthusiasm. But he's got the physical tools.

"He's an athlete, he likes football and he likes to work. He listens to what you say and he's got a positive attitude. He's got all the ingredients and now he's got to put it all together."

LeGrande also is earning the respect of his older, more accomplished teammates.

Defensive end Alex Albright said even though LeGrande still is learning the position, he's made himself a positive presence on the practice field.

"He's a very vocal player," Albright said. "He's really grown up in that aspect and he's shown that he's willing to work. Even if something's gone wrong on the previous play, he's shown he's willing to move on."

McLaughlin believes LeGrande can be a top-notch player.

"He's an incredible talent, that's what he is. You talk about a physical specimen, he's it," the tri-captain said.

To be fair, he also said it wasn't because they were the second best team, but because the schedule is highly favorable and if they could take care ofbusiness they'd be able to ride the wave of hype all the way to Pasadena...
