    FOURTEEN years already...

And can't believe I missed that he only played two years in the L. Ninth pick in the draft.

    Long read I know.....

Where is all of his money? I just looked at b-ball reference, and it said he made around 4 mil in his NBA career...that coupled with his overseas hoopin',he should have made over 5+ mil....obviously I didn't factor in taxes, agent fees, etc...but, I'm just curious as to why a guy like him is sellingcars....

No hindsight but seriously what was NJ thinkin takin this cat at #9 with his knee problem? What a draft run by the Nets though, from 1992-1999 these were theFirst Round draft picks they chose:

    Rex Walters
    Yinka Dare
    Ed O'Bannon
    Kerry Kittles
    Anthony Parker *EDIT
    Tim Thomas

Seriously though I would have guessed Ed ended up hangin on at least 6-7 years, dang

That article has a bit of a different tone than the one the LA Times did either last yr or year before. The last one made it sound like Ed had no absolutelyno regrets about his pro career/UNLV but this one addresses it a little bit. Either way good read and good to see him doing well. He was a greatplayer/person [IMG]

^^but just cuz he made a ton of money doesn't mean he didn't spend it. He probably ran through his NBA money with the quickness since he was a top 10pick and expected many more contracts in the future.

My friend's father works with him.

He doesn't have financial problems from what I know. Wife just wanted him out of the house.

Pretty cool guy. Worked with him and his sons a couple of times at the Thomas and Mack.

if you're talking about what ifs at UNLV, might as well get Lloyd Swee'pea Daniels to sell some cars with Ed too.

It's not unheard of for retired players to get day jobs, even when they have plenty of money. Rodney Rogers, who had a pretty long NBAcareer, still got a job working for his hometown as a heavy machine operator after he was done playing. He was financially set for life, but just likedworking.

Oh, and the Harrick/Lavin era at UCLA was filled with NBA disappointments. I don't think those guys were the best teachers. To some extent, I think Edhad some bad luck. I think in the right system he could have been a productive player. However, some guys from UCLA just weren't that good, i.e. TobyBailey, J.R. Henderson, Ed O'Bannon, and proved it when they got in the league.

Damn, I came in here read to read another "What ever happened to..." posts.

Much appreciation for actually posting an article and providing info instead of just asking what he's doing currently.

    Youre safe this time. [IMG]

Yeah, but after tax and paying all the other stuff you mention he would be lucky to have put $2m away - and that's not really enough to retireon at 25.

He probably didn't put that much away either - he was young and thought he would be making that money for a decade.

He probably also wants something to do. I know I wouldn't be lying on the couch all day even if someone was paying my salary for nothing.
