2009 football/soccer summer transfer rumors

like the loyalty when he threatened to join chelsea in order to get a raise at liverpool? j/k.

but it is nice to see a one club player like maldini and giggsy. and don't forget raul or totti. or even g.neville and scholesy!

but as much as i can't stand gerrard, he's such a great player. was it the 03/04 or 04/05 season when he single handedly carried that liverpool team to4th place? that was one of the best single season performances i've seen.

Man that article on Owen kinda breaks my heart. When I first started watching soccer he broke out during that WC in '98 and I became a Liverpool fanbecause of him. If I was a Man U fan I'd cop

in my opinion, i don't think he'll move this summer.

but i do believe he will next summer or the one after.

Off topic but anyone familiar with Pantofola d'Oro cleats? I didn't want to start a new thread as most soccer/football (excuse me) followers congregatein this very thread. I play casually but I do appreciate beautiful cleats as much as I appreciate sneakers. I'm deciding between Legend II since the priceis dropped/droppung with the III just came out and R9 switching to them from MVs

. I keep hearing good things about Pantofola d'Oro so here I am asking football freaks on NT! Also, where can you get a pair for a good pricealtho I understand beautiful cleats don't come cheap?

That wont be happening this summer. If Arsenal fail to be competitive in the next 2 yrs, guys like Adebeyor, Cesc, Clichy, Sagna, etc. will beheading to the door looking to join bigger clubs. I think that guys like RvP, Walcott, Arshavin will be at the club for a while.

first come first serve.
how early should i show up?

Messi was suppose to be in Los Angeles as the main attraction for an All-Star game that was going to be held at the Coliseum but it got canceled so I guess hejust took the time to hang out. Got hooked up with these VIP tickets to the event thanks to good folks and better friends at Niky's Sports on Pico, shouldbe a good event and a great chance to meet more world class footballers.

again, the owen jersey thing comes down to several reasons:
1. he doesn't have a squad number yet. who in their right mind would buy an owen jersey without a confirmed squad number.
2. his signing has polarized united fans. you either love the deal or hate it.
3. the new united kits have polarized fans too. you either love the chevron or hate it.

take all 3 factors and it's not surprising that nobody's requested it.

and smh at "& how does ronaldo get 5 times the amount of jerseys sold as kaka? he's not even that much better than him.. smh @ dude getting hype from his looks."

ronaldo sells more jerseys because he's just a more popular player than kaka at the moment. he's also just coming off of 3 league titles in a row, player of the year awards, and two successive champions league finals at manchester united. so he's arguably been on the most successful club team in the recent years, and he's been arguably the best player on the that team.

combine his goal scoring along with his flair and tricks, and you get an idea why he's so hyped. then being labled as the world's most expensive player only adds to it. his hype has more to do than his "looks."

zlatan does tricks and scores but he's ugly so no one buys his stuff. granted the serie A doesn't get as much hype as the epl but still . plus truesoccer fans know soccer players are " footballers " not circus clowns .

good point. zlatan does tricks and scores too.

all i'm saying is, ronaldo's hype is more than just his looks. and you nailed it with serie a. at the moment, the premier league is arguably the mostpopular league in the world, and ronaldo was playing for arguably the most successful club in the past 2 or 3 years. i've traveled throughout asia, andmanchester united is a brand name over there. everyone knows what manchester united is, and ronaldo was the face of the club. even the non soccer or casualsoccer fans in the u.s. know who "man u" are. there are a lot of factors that come into play. all i'm saying is i disagree with the notion thathis hype just from his looks.

and i agree that true soccer fans know that the players aren't just circus clowns. but those true soccer fans also realize that a player like ronaldoisn't just a show pony.

Somewhat off topic I finally got my tickets to the Milan-Club America match on July 22nd at the Georgia Dome. I am excited to go but wish I could watch abetter match up and was hoping Onyewu would suit up and possibly play. On the bright side Atlanta is the place where he will be meeting up with Milan and Iguess they may do some sort of unveiling. Also when I got to my ticketmaster outlet they figured out that I could save 10 percent on my seat if I also got Freetickets to the open practice the day before in Atlanta so I am definitely excited about that. I don't think there are any southern footy fans in here butis there any one else going to this particular game or any WFC game?
