The average salary for Major League Baseball players has dropped 17 percent from Opening Day of last season, USA Today has reported, citing an annual survey that dates to 1988.

The measure is the largest decrease in pay since the newspaper began charting Opening Day salaries.

Go Bucs, no incentive to spend more since it wouldn't be much and still not near the top (and competitive) teams

The Jays would be amongst the bottom 5 if they weren't paying Vernon Wells an obscene amount of money

Also should add the Top 25 individual salaries...

The Dodgers aren't anywhere near 95 Million.

They're only paying 79 Mil this year.

There are guys who aren't on the team anymore that they're still paying, and some current salaries are deferred

LOL at Pujols not being in the Top 25 salaries the last 4 years running.

Apple to oranges but in that time frame Pujols made $55.8 million and ARod made $116.7 mil.

Albert's agent is licking his chops as we speak.

As many as possible.
How's everything sir.

Be patient for 2010, stop gap year. Whatever the expectations are though, it cannot be worse than last season.

I am doing good. I should be headed back home for a few weeks this summer so I am going to have to see the new stadium. We just need to stay healthy and produce, last season was a nightmare.

There is no excuse for a team in the second largest media market, that regularly is in the top of the league in attendance to not be in the top 10 in payroll.

Sandwiched between two small market teams

Behind the Twins, Giants and Angels
.

To top it off our actual payroll is in the $80-82 million range

SELL THE #@*@%%% TEAM FRANK.  DODGER FANS DESERVE BETTER!
