@PrimeTimeBoy glad it worked out man. TT becomes ridiculous in pricing once you are doing itemized deductions.

Uhhhh, you cant be head of household with no dependents.I did my taxes and owe $670 this year smh. I file single and head of household, with no dependents. I can't even claim my stepson because my girl does already
I asked a similar question recently and I went through the filing already. They ask you certain questions and it seems to be you can either get exempt from going through the healthcare.gov process or you can get exempt going through the actual tax return right there and then. As another poster mentioned a page back, he was able to get exempt by just selecting it was unaffordable/expensive. I think each situation varies but it will let you go through a few questions to see if you will be exempt.Simple question.
I didn't have insurance for all of 2016 except the last month.
Am I really going to have to eat a $675 penalty fee? Is there anyway to be exempt?
I'm single, no kids, love live in an apartment, simple 1040ez or basic w2 file..

For divorced or separated parents, if the child lived in your home for more than half of the year, you may file as head of household, even if the divorce or separation agreement gives the other parent the right to claim the child as a dependent.
BTW....a quick question I wanted to help my friend with and if anyone knows. He worked those APP jobs (uber, lyft, Airbnb). He wanted to know does that mean he has to do a "Schedule C"?
Simple question.

I did hear about this lol. I read an article that said with trump's reversal of obamacare/ACA that the shared individual responsibility healthcare penalty fee will be gone.Executive Order by Trump "easing the burden of the Affordable Care Act."
Yes the IRS hasn't updated any of the instructions in regards to this order, however I wouldn't pay a penalty knowing the ACA will be scraped. Doubtful that the IRS will enforce these penalties. File the return and claim exemption code A, Coverage considered unaffordable on Form 8965
Great. Glad it worked out. Thanks both of you guys..
But I went ahead and filed through your no tax.. I have health insurance coverage Oct to Dec of 2016.. and I just put it was to expensive.. etc.. i got exempt.. I wasn't trying to get hit with that 600 plus hit..
Try using one of the exemptions allowed by the ACA. There are a couple that literally require no proof to be able to claim. Take advantage.
Teachers out here complaining about not getting paid enough..... how did she have 28k in the bank like that
Just filed.
You'll most likely have to file a paper return. Were you trying to claim any dependents? I see a common problem being that people try to claim a dependent that somebody else has claimed all ready. Whoever files their return first will get it and then the other persons return will get rejected and then will have to file paper. Also, could be a name problem the Social Security Admin might have your name wrong. Other than that please post up the rejection code so we can assist you better. The state owed me 15 last year but for whatever reason my return kept getting rejected through different filling avenues. How do I resolve this
