2023 Track and Field Thread — Diamond League Finals

Shelly Ann 10.74, might be in form to go below 10.7 in Doha. Naser barely wins the 400

Seems like there's been very little coverage of Lyles 19.50 from mainstream American media. I remember when Michael Johnson and Donovan Bailey were huge in media after 96 Atlanta and how much hype there was for the 150m race they were doing with the special track built for it. Even after that, Maurice Greene was getting good coverage, even Gatlin and Shawn Crawford for a bit in the mid 2000s, it seemed like after that was the last of the American sprint star tho. There was a time when the fastest man alive was 2nd only to the heavyweight champion of the world.

Gatlin might still be able to win at the 100m at Doha with the way he's been looking. Oduduru came in last at 10.26 and almost ran into Gatlin's lane. SMU's speed and first 100 is much improved. If shes coming off the turn equal or ahead she isn't going to be caught unless the Schippers of 2015 shows up. Sydney with a season's best in 400H

Yohan Blake racing with the Richard Mille, 9.98 for Japan's Koike in 4th. Man that Japanese 4x100 team is going to be a problem in Doha. Finally seeing a NB campaign for Sydney

SAFP now has 14 wind-legal sub-10.8s, which is the record. Marion Jones had 15 but only 13 are still in the books, the other two got annulled.

SAFP said she is doubling at the world championships. Which means Elaine is likely doubling too.

DAS also confirmed this was her plan for Doha.

Michael Johnson also said on the BBC that SMU was looking for a time change in the schedule where a 200/400 round are too close. He seemed more confident it could happen as it was time and not day.DAS also confirmed this was her plan for Doha.

Can't tell for sure if that was a full effort from Allyson. I suspect it wasn't, but I'm not positive there's another two seconds of fitness there, which is probably what will be necessary to make the team.

damn..... the favorites lost in the womens 100 meter final.....

congrats to christian coleman for winning the 100 meter

allison felix is in the 400 meter finals tomorrow

All the talks of Sydney breaking the WR and Muhammad does it today. Norman should've went for the double to give Lyles a rival in the 200, once they came off the Coleman got left in the dust by Lyles. Devon Allen able to get 3rd behind Roberts and Holloway to go to Doha

DL Birmingham Women's 200 was a great race, as were the men's 100 and the women's 100h.

Xie keeps improving

SMU wow 21.74 into a slight headwind for the 200m that she's not even going to run in Doha

Warholm and Benjamin dual in the 400 MH was great, can't wait for Doha to see Samba in the mix hopefully with them

Sydney great performance over Muhammad
