2024 MLB Thread; RIP Willie Mays & Pete Rose. Dodgers win #8!

In a conversation on history, which is what my point has been from the beginning?
Um, yeah.
Acquired Babe, won 4, rinsed & repeated for decades.
People just jump into arguments without even knowing what the person is saying.
That's what I've been saying from the jump.
Wasn’t jumping into an argument though lol. Just saying you’ve been using Babe as an example when he was prior to evil empire and prior to free agency being a thing.

No one was telling us nothing when we had two decades of losing seasons 90s,00s…
then actually having a great farm system and drafting (Puig, seager, bellinger, julio etc) and actually developing our players and making really good scouting for trades that turned into Turner, Taylor, Muncy, etc. Then only to be the butt of jokes the last decade always losing in the playoffs and Kersh getting his rep tarnished some :(

Now we spending money up until Mook and now people getting they panties tied up :lol :lol

He has been using examples that span over 10 decades, a lot of homegrown players, and players who were traded to the Yankees as comparable examples since news broke. Silly.

Just for the record this is jokes, for me at least. I'm bored at work and this is making the day go faster., but Dodgers are gettin away with wayyyyyyyy more than the Yanks ever did. Just sayin ....

Its not jokes for me, but I am not mad at what is happening or anything. I have stated many times that I dont blame the Dodgers for what they are doing. I am just pushing back on the arguments that I disagree with (the Yankees did this on the same level, the Dodgers have mostly homegrown players, etc.).

the Yankees did this on the same level
That's how my argument is being interpreted and that's pissing me off (not literally 🤣) because I never said, suggested, implied, or intimated that
I've said from the jump that stacking the deck has been what the Yankees have done throughout all 41 WS appearances.
HHow they've done it has been different, but starting with Babe and all the way up to Soto and Cole, this is what the Yankees are known for.
Like KNOWN for.

The original post of mine that you argued with was: "Honestly, those Yankee vibes aren't even close to this level. It's Yankee vibes on steroids, human growth hormones, horse tranquilizers, and so on."

If you are going to debate my statement saying this is the Yankees on steroids, how is anyone supposed to interpret that differently?.

i was just thinking, if Ohtani plays say 10 more yrs , retires and dies right after (not to be morbid) his deal gets voided and the team doesn't have to pay the rest of the contract. i wonder if thats the case with his deferments or would it be voided ?

if that did happen the dodgers would've got 10 yrs outta him for $20 mil

Ohtani’s deferment payments in 2034 until 2043 are $68 mil/yr :emoji_astonished: That is an insane amount per year after he’s done there. Makes Bobby Bonilla day look like couch change

I would imagine that in any deferred agreement, the money would still be paid to the estate should said player pass away. There is no way the Players Union attorneys would allow for the possibility of a team not honoring payment that’s owed.

Mamiko would be the most eligible Bachlorette in Japan in that case.

Fair point. I see that.

I think when I saw 'YANKEES ON STEROIDS', I saw & responded to it as '[entire] YANKEES [history, but now] ON STEROIDS [because of deferred payments]'.

That's why I started off with basically "HAAAAYYYYLLL nah. Any team is DECADES away from that being a legit conversation."
