Right or Wrong?

Last saturday i purchased a 4 piece sectional sofa for my basement i am redoing in my home. The delivery day was supposed to be the 13th of december. Soyesterday i call the store up around 1 and ask whats up no one called me to give me a delivery time. They tell me that no one put it on the truck and this isthe last day for delivery because the store is going out of business. I tell them i guess i have to go pick it up then. So i make plans to use my fathers pickup truck to go get it. So around 7pm we go to store and my wife says don't say anything i will talk to them. She tells them she had to take a day off ofwork and we had to pay someone to come here and help us pick it up. So they guy refunds us 250. Then he says i had my guys wrap it up earlier this morning foryou. So we go over to our stuff and we see the 4 pieces we purchased wrapped up, plus the recliner which we didn't purchase, but is part of the samecollection of furniture. So my wife tells me throw the recliner on the truck first. So the guy is like yea all these pieces are yours and has us sign the pickup slip, and says enjoy your furniture and that was that.

So my question is was it wrong for us to take the recliner. I mean it was there mistake in not delivering the furniture, there mistake in wrapping it all up,and the managers mistake in telling us that all 5 pieces were ours.

You took the money and the recliner? Wow, well they were going out of business so maybe they "hooked" you up...but shame on you for not telling themand your wife being the mastermind behind the theft

Took an inch and a mile IMO... but they were going out of business and he did say all the pieces were yours, so.. I mean, I doubt you taking the recliner costanybody their life or anything.

i would of took the recliner, and asked them to wrap anything else on the spot up.. your wife is def RIGHT..

The manager did look over the paper work like 3 times and said to take the recliner to. I know he was confused because it had a lounger that reclined and arecliner already connected to the love seat part. But it just said reliner, so he was like take all your pieces so we did. Im just waiting for the call fromthem saying we took the recliner and need to bring it back. im gonna tell them to come get it.

Im a honest person..that said I would of mentioned I didn't purchase it but would ask if I could keep it anyway.

i don't mind taking the recliner....like it's wrong, but i guess it's not going to make that big of a difference since they're liquidatingtheir inventory anyway


what i DON'T like is the fact that your wife conned a story up just to squeeze 250 out of the person....was that really neccessary?

What should we have done, about them not delivering the furniture. Just say dont worry about it, its ok. Dont worry about it i just have a truck at my housejust in case something like this happens. You dont think we should have been compensated for there screw up. The recliner was just a bonus.

Plus you have double standards teddy its ok to take a recliner that wasnt paid for but not ok to say she had to take off of work to wait for delivery.

It was ok by me because the manager said the recliner is yours, and actually helped us load it on the truck for our second trip.

i don't see anything wrong with anything in the story. you guys had to go out of your way to pick up furniture that was supposed to be delivered to yourdoorstep. you deserved the money back, and you didn't even ask for it. he knowingly gave you a recliner, that matched your furniture set.... they probablywouldn't have been able to sell it alone.

I wouldn't feel too guilty about it. They're going out of business and they probably won't wan't to store all the stuff that's leftover.

Seriously though, if you know you didnt purchase the piece then why not give it back? Did your wife really want the recliner?

I'll tell you what, i will be comfortable as hell in hell, in my brand new free recliner. i have wanted to get a recliner for like 2 years now but i dontlike to have mismatching furniture, so wish came true, although my wife said the recliner is hers.

I wouldn't have taken it, especially since he already gave you $250..But thats just me. I would have probably called it out by name, like is this reclinersours too, and if he was like yea then I would have taken it, but I would've asked at least..
