Surprised there wasn't a thread on this until now. The settlements are going to be massive when its said and done. When you have accidents of this magnitude you begin to understand why there are so many proponents of NIMBY.

That's crazy. I didn't know people could be vaporized in a conventional explosion. Shame.

It's extra freaky because I just saw "Unstoppable" for the first time last week. Coincidence, sure...but an odd one.

,,,but wait...
"Canadian authorities have found evidence that a criminal act may have led to a train crash in Lac-Megantic, Quebec, that killed at least 15 people, provincial police Capt. Michel Forget said Tuesday.

Investigators had earlier said that they are trying to figure out whether the train's brakes were disabled before it barreled at a dangerous speed into the Quebec town, derailed and burst into a deadly inferno.

Firefighters in the nearby town of Nantes put out a separate blaze on the train shortly before it crashed into Lac-Megantic early Saturday. Ed Burkhardt, chief executive officer and president of Rail World, the parent company of the Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway, has told media outlets there's evidence the engine powering the brakes was shut down at some point."

I work with trains too, we carry some nasty stuff through heavily populated areas n u.e.n.o. I'm actually shocked it doesn't happen more often honestly.

Sounds like the train corp. would like leak that "vaporized talk" out there. Legally, they are on the hook for way less money if they can say the victims died instantly.

Trust, this reminds me of this Maritime law case not long ago which involved a death by a faulty device, the shipping company swore the victim died instantly, and because of that said were liable for less "damages".

And yet environmentalists prefer to transport crude

Oil via rail versus da keystone pipeline :smh:
