As far as wildfires go, let NY be the same type of biome we are and you'd guys would have wildfires too.
We live in a Chaparral(socal). Wildfires are actually good for us, good for the land. It's the man-made ones that are bad and the fact that they always try to suppress the fires instead of letting them run their course which causes bigger fires.

I don't see how you guys can use natural disasters and things that are out of peoples hands to compare whether one place is better than another.
