It seems that the compression of the material has caused it to crack and peel. Surprisingly, the black paint has held up exceptionally well.

Fortunately, it's only noticeable if you get really close to the shoe.

The only 4 I have that looks like that, and all around all sides, is the white lasers. I've worn my WCs more than those though, and no cracking on those yet. I suppose it's inevitable if you wear them long enough. Better to enjoy them regardless!

Damn. Thank you for schooling me. I had no idea. I probably prefer the 2000s midsole.The inverted navy midsole paint on the 2012 Olympics annoyed me juuuust enough to despise them! Though a simple repaint would have solved the problem for me, I knew I wouldn't have put the time in.

Snkrs pair came in yesterday. Took a quick shot. Right looks good to me. Left might have a touch of pink.
Definitely not noticeable when on foot. (Or next to a normal white pair.)
