I’ve been going through my closet and shoes, and it hit me more clear than ever: When it comes to literally new shoes, it’s pretty much over for me unless Nike can somehow get away from these materials and everything basically looking the same. The 33 and 34 are the only “modern” things I’ve bought in several years. Everything else I’ve bought is a retro—be it hoops shoes or runners etc—since the Kobe line ended (for me) with the Kobe 11. It’s depressing.

Sorry for hijacking a thread, but does anyone feel that JB has really dropped the ball with performance models? Seems like the only ones they care about anymore is the signature J's every year, probably Zion and a slowly but surely fading Westbrook line?

They skipped atleast two releases just this year alone, with React Elevation Lows and CP3.XIII's. Just seems weird how JB is looking like they are heading towards a more lifestyle brand, and not a performance brand anymore.

Great observation. Nike has been trending this way for a while. To me it seems like the real performers that most ballers wear are kyries & kds, alongside Kobes if you can get them. A lot of colleges do still wear Russ's family of shoes (Why Nots, One Takes, React Elevations), but aside from the JB athletes, it's a guy or two here or there wearing the newest Jordans, and that's it.

If you're playing or if there are pics from a game, somebody is bound to have on either KDs or Kyries. Those are the performance models these days.

^^^ It’s not just JB. The Nike side doesn’t really do much to market/promote performance hoops shoes either. The most effort that goes into them seems to be in coming up with nicknames for each colorway. LOL:

Honestly, don't bother with the black bottom unless you can leave the toecap white, it looks completely off IMO
