the guy can get a gig with HBO or something of that caliber, he's not settling for Bleacher Report just because they offer a wide array of sports covered by morons in college.
If you followed him on Twitter you'd know that he praises her regularly. Her grilling of Roger Goodell last fall was pretty great, and Bill lamented (in that moment) the fact she no longer worked for ESPN. I think it may have been a veiled shot at ESPN for not employing people who had the balls to call out the Commish. She's had other moments where Bill gave her shoutouts on Twitter. He doesn't do that for very many non-ESPN employees.
Hold up, wasn't br the site you wrote a few articles for? Just say it's a crappy place because you know firsthand.
He can do a tv program that's the equivalent of a lot of the stuff he was doing at ESPN. He doesn't need a place just to write, he's evolved past that. Word how else do you think I know how poor that site is and how lousy it's run. It's a joke.
yeah but he can still get his writing fix off doing a new spin on 30/30 stuff, sports documentaries, etc.
Yep. Writers write. He's not doing exclusive TV work. Also, I'm not going to defend Bleacher Report as a business. I know exactly how they operate. I'm not even going to defend 95% of the content on there. But, it's part of a larger media group that is very enticing to someone like Simmons because of the direct partnership with the NBA. Fox and NBC do not allow for that.
i mean the guy has established himself in the mainstream, he can get a payday from hbo to do tv work/sports docs/etc. and start up his own personal website for columns. i rather go in that direction than write for a dump like BR. in all honesty, there really is barely any good sports websites out there that offer quality content. if there's something better please to point me to it since i need some new stuff to read
Like I said on page 1. Vice legit wants to be a big player, and let's be real. Fox sports and NBC sports will never become major players. Vice on the other end, are ticking upwards.
dan been suspended multiple times tho. also it's pretty clear that people at Bristol just straight up don't like Bill and that will get you fired with a quickness doesn't matter how talented you are.
dmbrhs - that's a great point about B/R ownership, I had forgotten that. That's almost like a near perfect situation on paper for Simmons and they have money. Simmons has had dreams of being on Inside the NBA with Chuck too.
Man.. Can't wait to see if le batard or bomani say anything about this.. Only guys I care about at ESPN still NEED a 'pop the trunk' podcast now
It would be interesting if he attached himself with one of the streaming tv services Especially if one of them bids and wins one of those sports contracts
i can't stand organizations like this. i've been thinking about starting a website, but i dont want to be like these tools that don't value their employees fairly. but it's definitely not easy to dish out a fair wage without having seed money/positive cash flow.
Bill's big enough to to start something on his own. If he could lure some Grantland writers with him that would be huge
