American Hustle Starring Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Robert De Niro, Amy Adams, J

Excellent movie. It deserves whatever best screenplay category it's in, that shot had so many dope elements...That ice fishing story is one of the best plot devices I've seen in a while..**** was genius. Bradley cooper bro'd the hell outta his role, I thought his part was fantastic. Love *** it was ****, slight grainy, little to no make up; Amy Adams did well, Lawrence did well. Christian Bake did outstanding. Acting was so on point, storyline was kinda complicated like a mid summers night dream...liked it a lot.

Wow.

Just got back from watching it and I am impressed. I didn't think it would be that dope. Sure to be a classic.

For the record though, Carmine's wife and secretary were  just my speed.

Hmmm. I really disliked this.

Jeremy Renner was good, though.

Although the message of the FBI essentially creating the crime it's meant to stop is especially relevant today.

Seen American Hustle this past weekend.

People are right to call it a classic. Def one of those movies you watch over and over again.

For people who live in the northeast/NYC//tri state area, this movie is like when your looking at those pictures of your parents/ grandparents partying when they were young and getting that feeling like they weren't living 100% legal lives. I don't know other regions get that feeling about their parents/grandparents cause I, always seeing people on TV and friends talkin bout their grandparents were super religious or super straight laced, but I know at least amongst my family that these characters were basically my grandparents/"aunts", "uncles" and all the parties they were at and businesses they owned just reminded me of pictures and stories. The 70's and New York/New Jersey are just as important characters in this film as anyone else.

Real talk the movie is a comedy, and an INCREDIBLY directed and acted one. I think the sincerity that Cooper, Bale, Adams, and Lawrence brought out of their characters is what gave it the right amount of drama. Like everyone of these character is completely out of their mind insane, but the actors are 100% committed to the reality and multiple emotional layers of each character. Plus, I can't say enough about the directing. The way it starts in media res and the interaction between Christian bale and anyone in the movie is straight FIRE. Everyone was great, but Bale and Lawrence really owned it. And the best part is they were the two characters whose insanity made the whole movie that much more entertaining, so it worked perfectly.

This movie was good as ****. Definitely understand the Oscar nod, and I see this movie getting played regularly on Netflix/HBO/Starz for a long time to come.

I do not understand the Casino/Goodfellas references AT ALL. What makes people compare the two? The only thing they have in common is the Mafia in the 70's. But does this remind you of Carlito's way, too? I think the comparison is stupid and made by people who don't know movies like they think they do.

Also, that Wolf of Wallstreet trailer beforehand got me GEEKED.

Well acted & directed? Absolutely!

Interesting & Suspenseful? Absolutely not!

I guess this is what high expectations do, this 2 hour film felt like 3.5, it was just eeeh and the twist was so weat and predictable. Again, I was so interesting in loving this but it has no replay value for me, I was sitting there just waiting for Amy Adam's nip to slide out. Toast to Jeremy Renner, Bradley Cooper & Christian Bale, they murdered it! Felt the ladies were overacting. Worth to see for the acting but would wait to stream.

It was a little uneven at times (mostly in the beginning) but overall I loved it. I didnt read much up on the movie so I was not expecting De Niro and Louis CK to have roles, but they were a cool bonus. Nice to see some Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire alumni in the movie too. Eli Thompson had the best wig

The overall tone of the film and the constant use of voiceovers were pretty reminiscent of Casino and Goodfellas. I'm pretty sure thats what people are referring to.

Exactly. That touch was an obvious nod to Scorsese. Also the cheating wife that brings it all down? Casino anyone? :nerd: How about the devoted woman that loves that her man is a criminal and is an emotional wreck? Goodfellas anyone? :nerd: The scene where she's trying on furs and outfits? If that didn't remind you of Ginger's jewelry scene in Casino.... :smh:

But knowledgebones72 knowledgebones72 you're right, nothing like those movies. *sarcasm

I enjoyed it a lot. My brother and mom thought it was too slow but my pops liked it too. Acting was top notch as well.

People in here really thought Lawrence didn't do a good job?

She was good. NT just loves old @#$ Amy Adams too much, so to them everyone else is mediocre.

Amy looked really bad in some seems. But them ******* looked ready to pop out at any moment

Sorta wanna watch it since everyone said it was good...But last time I watched a movie that was "good", it sucked.

Gravity was the movie btw.

Gravity was awful. I was rooting against Bullock the whole time because of how annoying she was
