i get peoples gripes but its weird that people dont understand why people like resorts
some people just want to chill and be catered to
some people have already experienced the country and just want to lay on the beach
maybe they just want to get away and have a relaxing vacation...not everyone is looking for an adventure
i know people who travel and seen so much that they literally fly to another country for a couple of days just to get away from their stressful lives and be in a calm quiet place
a lot of old people just physically can't do much and a resort is perfect for them
yall make it seem shameful that people want to spend their hard earned money to live in luxury on a resort for a couple of days
some people just want to chill and be catered to

I remember asking my dad this since me and my parents go to DR every year... I was like dont you want to go somewhere else for vacay? He said DR is an affordable vacay and like to do nothing but hang out at the beach and relax...also said that going out to tour the city like visiting Europe is not ideal vacation and not relaxing to him... I get it...when I went to Montreal for vacay all I did was walk around and go sightseeing... It was cool but tiring at the same time... By the time I got home I was exhausted and wanted to take a few days off before going to work... That didn't happen though lol

Some people plan exhausting trips where they see a bunch of locations and do activities. I like seeing a few things then just drink and eat the rest of the time.

I like to eat and drink on vacation, regardless of where I'm at... and shop. If all the food in DR wasn't terrible I would have enjoyed it much more.

Idgaf about buildings, trees, statues or how the poor locals live. I came here for the weather, beach, alcohol and food. I work for a living so my idea of a vacation is chilling, not backpacking or biking thru mountains. Call it what u want, I’ll look at you alls pics if I wanna see the landmarks or other **** idc about.

That's the difference between travelers and vacationers, ppl that go explore and take in culture etc. are the travelers, ppl that chill in the resorts etc. like a lot of americans are vacationers. Most americans fall more in the vacationers category, Europeans and Aussies fall more into the travelers category, which is why when I travel i usually meet up more Euros and Aussies

Makes no sense to me. Lost count of the Americans, Aussies, and English who fly across the world to get drunk with the same people from back home while kickin it in Indonesia, Thailand, Mexico, etc. Why even bother leaving then? You can find nice beaches much closer to home without wasting all that money and effort
Resorts are garbage. If I want to see a whole bunch of lazy sunburnt Americans laying around, I'll just drive down 45 mins down to Santa Cruz to do that.

I like exploring on my vacations but if someone wants to veg out idc. Even if they’re with me.
I’ve been places with my boys where they might have went too hard the night before and will just lay out all next day & we’ll just link up later.

A lot of this depends on who you go with. Usually, Mexico i’ve gone with guy friends so of course we are going to build out the trip with drinking and partying in mind and this is much easier to coordinate at an all inclusive resort.
I went to China for a month and met up a friend that was living there / speaks Chinese. We took the local trains, stayed in all varieties of run down spots, ate local food, met with local people and had a great time going from town to town.
We can enjoy both.

Word but theyll hit u with the “i wanna experience the culture” line lol ...like ni**ah u not tryna learn heavy spanish,dance to bachata or eat the food heavy u into spanish chicks that u know u can hop on in a 3rd world country that u couldnt bag in the states ..stop fronting lol ...to each his own (your money & life) but knock it off with the bulls**t like some of us dont know what time it is

It just gives me a disrespectful colonialist vibe when people do that. "Let me go to a developing country to just smash their women and/or drink for cheap, while staying in a luxury resort as far as possible from the rest of these poor folk". Locals only put up with it cause they have few other opportunities available to them.
