Any Bartenders...?

in VA you don't need a class. I started serving at this hotel and later started bartending when I was of age. at first it was hard to remember all thedrinks but I drink a lot and most people get the same thing although you will get some people asking for random stuff ("I'd like a cape codder"@$# just say vodka & cranberry...)

^ I'm sure you'll do just fine.

As it's already addressed, working at a spot with a chill bar is the way to go. Good luck with it, considering I'll probably do the same if I can getinto Grad school in the east coast, in the future.

depends on the location. also day of the week, th e occasion, etc. weekends generally are better, and if the spot is a popular place then you should walkout with a decent amount. Having cash in hand every night is a plus. Don't even think about the little 2 or 3 dollar hourly they give you. As long asyou are attentive to guests and know what you're talking about and don't suck as a person you should be fine. Oh, and patience is important tooalthough people are usually nice to the bartender.

Workin in a high end hotel would probably mean you'll be makin alot of martinis and old school drinks, but they are more picky about how their drinktastes. In a club or a popular bar you can make maybe 5-7 types of drinks all night and after 12, 1 people could care less how little or how much alcohol youpoured into it.

If your a nice or shy girl don't become a bartender but if you have alil attitude and like to be in control its a great job. If you really want to youcould put down that party as experiance, you know, uhm private catering bartending. Fake it till you make it!
