Anyone tried to repurpose the zoom insoles from beat up nikes?

I had a couple of pairs of beat up bball shoes namely my air kobe 1 and ultraflights and I remember them being some of the cushiest ball shoes that I've ever had.  With the outsole being gone and with zero grip, i decided to gut them instead of throwing them away.  I got a couple of good zoom insoles, but 2 have been deflated.

I tried to use a rear zoom unit on the rear of my Melos (just added it right at the heel of the insole) and gave it a run.  They felt SOOO good but they never made it past the end of a 2 hour pick up game :/
