If you feel bad about the loyalty issue, heres what you do.

Next time in, tell your current barber that hes been slippin lately, even in a joking matter, he'll get it. Tell him youre gonna start goin to the new catif he doesnt step it up.

My guess is, he'll try harder that time, and hopefully from then on. But if the lineup is still sub-par, you move on.

Basically, you gave him a chance to step it up, and he didnt, so you shouldnt feel bad. Move on to the new guy.

Might as well just switch barbershops all together, definitely not a good look to switch up on a dude, especially if you been loyal for a while..

I been cutting in a shop for about a year....I'm 18 btw and started cutting when I was 9. But on the real, it's you're head man and if you dontlike the way the one barber is cutting you, just tell him youre gonna try someone new. I do agree with you that alot of barbers are territorial with clientsand get salty if a dude wants to get cut by a next barber, but that's a sign that dude needs to step his game up. I guess I'm lucky in the way that allmy clients are loyal and like the way I cut them and always come back. regularly. Alot of my clients are my boys from around the way tho and I've beencutting them since we was little.

Exactly. It's not like he is really gonna be hurt about losing you as a person unless you are actually friends. You are paying for a serviceso if it isn't up to par then you need to voice it or move on. If I go to a nail salon and they mess up I'm not going to continue to go there andspend my hard earned money to appeas their feelings.

If he is really a goof barber he will want and appreciate your feedback. If he doesn't then he shouldn't be touching your head in the first place.

Edit:
After seeing that this thread was grave dug...

I'll leave it open as the person who bumped it seemed to add to the thread but in the future please take note ofwhen a thread has ended and use your judgment in reviving it. It's frowned upon to bring back topics that have long been finished (Like this one from2007).

So I go to this shop and I use the same guy. But lately I have noticed hes not doing a good job compared to this new dude. How do you go about saying "nah man I want homie to line me up instead" when you've been using same dude forever.

- i come from a family of barbers. and from what ive seen the closer you get to your barber the sloppier his work becomes. i equate it to, if your a strangerthey'll make sure and trim you up right. the more comfortable they get with you the more laxed their work becomes. i try to not have just 1 barber, i tryand switch up every so often.
- ive had a couple of barber i got cool with and they cuts got more and more sloppy.

- as a kid i wouldnt even let my pops cut my hair because he was too lazy when it came to me. my homeboys? he'd hook them up. i used to goto my uncle, oranother barbershop down the street. people used to give me the

when they seen me in another shop but after its said and done im the customer, and if i canget better service elsewhere i have every right to.

Man I would just switch barbers. My hairline is kind of fading in the corners and it's a big deal for me if someone pushes it back. So I make sure and tellthem not to, they do it anyway, first and last time I go to them. My cousin is a great barber back home, so If I know I'm going home within a month I willlet my hair grow out and try to keep myself lined up with my andis until I can go to him and have it done by a pro.

I agree wtih this dude!

there was a time when my barber was messin up an i fixed it everytime i got home. maybe his eyes got checked or suttin cuz he good now. but that time periodwas very frustrating.

I had to replace barbers twice all in the same shop.. My first barber (owner) has been cutting my hair for a long time but son went on a extended vacation(prison). He told what was going down pass me on to another dude, I was kool with it but just wasn't' feeling how the other barber was cutting myhair, realizing this three months in or maybe just being a scary dude lol to replace him. So current barber at the time didn't come in the day I wasexpecting him. I always peep other barbers out and after going there for a while you know what to expect from other barbers. So I made the next switch couldnot have been happier lol. Just told old barber am going with other dude, that was that. Then my first barber return home, he saw me come in the shopexcepting me to get in his chair, I just told him am rollin with someone us.

First barber " Yo am back now, hopefully I can get my old clientele back." His words to me it made me feel a lil something but it is what it is.

When it comes to my hair cuts I dont play and its a barbers job to make his/her clients looks good....So basically when you sit in his/her chair...YOU'REthe boss...if he aint up to par...Fire his ***...point blank

@ the thought of walking around with a 'ucked up lining because you wanna be loyal....

Just learn to cut it yourself. You might as well *$%% up your own hair for free, than pay someone to do it.
