Looking through the #1 overall pick bust thread, I got to thinking who the biggest 2nd round steals have been since roughly the same period as Kandiman. These are the guys that stood out most to me:
'97: Stephen Jackson, #43 overall
'98: Rashard Lewis, #32 overall
'99: Manu Ginobili, #57 overall
'00: Michael Redd, #43 overall
'01: Gilbert Arenas, #31 overall
'02: Carlos Boozer, #35 overall
'03: Mo Williams, #47 overall
While Arenas is probably the best player on this list, I don't know if he was the best pick in terms of value, in that he was chosen very early in the second round. The one that obviously jumps out at me the most is Manu in '99. He was the second-to-last player drafted that year, sandwiched between two fellas named Tim Young and Eddie Lucas. Considering guys like Jonathan Bender and Trajan Langdon went in the lottery, I'd say the Spurs got themselves a pretty nice steal in addition to winning the title that year (*).
