Looking through the #1 overall pick bust thread, I got to thinking who the biggest 2nd round steals have been since roughly the same period as Kandiman. These are the guys that stood out most to me:

'97: Stephen Jackson, #43 overall
'98: Rashard Lewis, #32 overall
'99: Manu Ginobili, #57 overall
'00: Michael Redd, #43 overall
'01: Gilbert Arenas, #31 overall
'02: Carlos Boozer, #35 overall
'03: Mo Williams, #47 overall

While Arenas is probably the best player on this list, I don't know if he was the best pick in terms of value, in that he was chosen very early in the second round. The one that obviously jumps out at me the most is Manu in '99. He was the second-to-last player drafted that year, sandwiched between two fellas named Tim Young and Eddie Lucas. Considering guys like Jonathan Bender and Trajan Langdon went in the lottery, I'd say the Spurs got themselves a pretty nice steal in addition to winning the title that year (*).

Manu and Redd were definitely both nice ones who went late. Arenas was the second pick of the first round, so you're right, he didn't go THAT late, the Pistons picked up Memo even later in that same draft, and he was a great find too.

going way back, Iceman Gervin was tabbed in the third round back in 1974, but he joined the ABA instead.

oh yeah, how could I not give a shoutout to Monta

Cuttino Mobley and Monta Ellis were also 2nd round picks.

But from the list above, I'll choose Gilbert Arenas. 2nd is probably Boozer. With those two guys you can't go wrong.

I have no idea how Michael Redd went so low after his persormance against St. John's in the tourney that year. Him and Scoonie Penn straight killed us.

Boozer.

Rodman isn't really recent, but I'd say him if we're going that far back.

Rodman beats all of those, but from the ones mentioned, Ginobili was the best pick considering he went about 20 spots lower than most of the other ones..

I'd say Boozer...only because good points and 2-guards are much more abundant than good big men.
