SAN FRANCISCO -- A public memorial service for former Stanford and San Francisco 49ers coach Bill Walsh will be held Aug. 10 at Monster Park in San Francisco, according to a statement from the 49ers.

Monster Park, then known as Candlestick Park, was the home field for the 49ers during the 10 seasons, 1979-88, that Walsh coached the team. The team won the Super Bowls at the conclusion of three of those seasons, 1981, 1984 and 1988.

The memorial program will include a video tribute prepared by NFL Films as well as memories about Walsh from players and coaches he was associated with. Parking will be free at the service.

The Walsh family is asking that in lieu of flowers a donation to a favored charity be made in Walsh's name.

A private service will be held a day earlier at Stanford.
