This.  And I would have the same opinion even if I wasn't an up-and-coming producer.  Nice or not (and he is nice, don't get me wrong), you'd be surprised how far a few key connections or contacts could get you.

And to what TDot said: When I saw the piece on him in OZONE, he looked way older than 23.  Maybe it's because I get mistaken for being younger 22, but with his facial hair and all dude looked at least 25 or so. (Pause)
