whats good nt, i'm just about to get a new car and i wanted to get a good sound system for the car. normally i am pretty good with technology stuff, andi've been trying to research what to get and i can't figure this stuff out. i know i need a deck, 4 speakers (do you want the same kind in the frontand back or not?), subs and do you need an amp? i was wondering if you guys could give to the basics on this stuff and what brands you like and what stuff toget. also i'm trying to not spend much over a grand, can a get a good system for that? thanks in advance for any help.

1 grand you're set for sure. If you're in the hood 300 is enough for everything.

I got two Alpine type R 12 inch subs. They bump pretty nice.

I would reccomend getting two amps and getting all your speakers switched. Tweeters also help a lot.

Onlinecarstereo.com has really good deals. Check em out.

Go with an Alpine or Pioneer deck, JL Audio subs and Amp. You will need an amp to power your subs. Also probably gonna need a spare battery as well. Mightwanna think about Dynomat so your trunk doesn't rattle (nothing looks and sounds worse than when a trunk rattles). Might be able to spend less than a grandif you shop on ebay or craigslist. Stereo equipment is marked up just as high as jewelry and not worth paying retail prices. You can probably buy everything onebay for around $800 then just pay someone to install it.

hes wrong... wait until someone more educated comes into this thread, or use the search feature to find the "official car audio thread" but know fordamn sure that $300 is NOT going to get you anything worthwhile...but some people get what they pay for and settle for distorted crap blasting out of their $20walmart speakers.

id definitely help you out, but im in a rush...off the top of my head, the best quality cheap budget speakers you can get are phoenix golds, look for some nicecomponents that'll fit your door, technically you don't even have to get rear speaks, if you do, go for some coaxials, but there's an on-goingdebate on whether rear fill is ever necessary...look for a nice headunit with pre-amp output, in terms of a sub, it depends on what you're looking for spl(loudness) or sql (sound quality)...its also definitely recommended to get a custom box based on your subs needs, not just some prefab box you buy atfiesta...and i doubt you'll need a spare battery, but if you do get a yellow cap, might as well upgrade your Big 3 as well. best advice i can give you isthat you get what you pay for, never settle for something cheap because in the end you'll probably be buying a new one.

1000 isn't much

Don't ever recommend car audio in your life

You need an amp for the subs you can get one for the speakers too if you want. You also should match up the speakers go to crutchfield.com and find out whatkind of speakers you need for your car. Your gonna need all the wires too. Check craigslist its plenty of stuff on there like subs and amp together.

Headunits
-Pioneer
-Jvc
-Alpine
Subs
-Alpine type R
-Rockford fosgate p series
-JL Audio W7
Amps
-Alpine
-Kicker
-Hifonics

If your willing to spend a stack then using craigslist could get you a top of the line sounding system for cheap or try a car audio shop, stay away frombestbuy

$300 in the right "hood" can get you a $1000 system, then you just gotta get your Puerto Rican cousin to install it as a favor

If he has $1000 to spend on a system he could definitelyget a nice set up if he went to get it from a black market dealer
