Okay, i'm planning on buying a sub for my car...the basic. Really need it to thump, so i plan to put it in my my trunk, a good spot as sound is compressedthere. I already have narrowed my sub down specifically Kicker since they're cheap and for great for the money. Havent decided which one as i'm goingto take a look tomorrow, thinking about getting a 15'. My amp will be a Sony Explod XM-ZZR3301, got for cheap off one of my friends. Now my question is,will my stock OEM Honda deck work as i really like it and it looks better than most decks out there. How would i adjust the bass level on an OEM deck? Plusputting in a new deck would make my console look [IMG] so im trying to avoidthat.

Here's what my OEM deck looks like. BTW: 2003 Honda Accord

ditch that cheap amp, and ditch the kicker idea. once you get a sub in there, the stock speakers won't be able to keep up and the bass will drown out thesound. do it right the first time to avoid a headache

Is Kenwood any good in amps? My friend has a Kicker CompVR with a Kenwood amp not too sure of the model, and it sounds nice. I want it to THUMPbut not to the point where my paint can chip from the vibration. Someone told me to go with Image Dynamics, but i have not heard of that brand nor tested itout.

image dynamics is good but not a budget brand. best entry level sub is the alpine type r. that sub in the right box with clean power would sound pretty good.for the headunit you need a High/Low converter

What's a good site to learn the basic of a car audio system? I want to put one together or atleast change up what I have but I'm totally clueless.

what kind of paint job chips from the subs beating? maico?

anyways the only thing you would have to worry about is the rattling or maybe your windsheild breaking and you would have to hit hard, like over 170 db forthat to happen

Yeah, i was looking at those a for while now. What's difference with the L5 to L7? Image dynamics seem to produce quality type bass, which iam not looking for, i basically just want it to hit. Originally was gonna just spend 150-200 for sub but if it's really necessary, i'll shell outextra.

JL makes the best sub out there, IMO..Memphis makes good quality and affordable subs too..But like someone else already said, you are gonna def. need toupgrade your stock door speakers and also you'll need to get a nice little amp to run them..Don't forget to Dynamat the trunk or you'll just soundfoolish when you're rollin' around with all the rattle going on..Invest in some mid-range RCA cables..Also might want to get a cap or extra battery forthose dimming lights..I guess you gonna have to spend a little more than you wanted, but do it right the first time and save yourself the hastle..Peace

one 12inch jl audio w6 > two kicker 12inch L7s. retail for a w6 is about $350 each. get the 500/1 jl audio amp for around $450 and get a ported box youll beset
ur door speakers are gonna sound low considering ur sticking to the stock head unit. get a clean sweep and itll boost the mids/highs in the speakers
to adjust ur bass gain from the subs simply put a bass knob. they have some that come with the amp or get a universal one that connects to the deck
