    Bulls star Derrick Rose has surgery, no timetable on return

    CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose had surgery to repair his left eye socket Wednesday, a day after being elbowed in the face.

    Coach Fred Hoiberg says the operation to repair a left orbital fracture ''went as expected.'' He would not put a timetable on Rose's return or rule him out for the opener Oct. 27 against Cleveland.

    Hoiberg says the 2011 NBA MVP was elbowed in the face by one of the team's big men after making a ''great baseline drive'' and passing to the corner.

    A spokeswoman at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where Rose had the operation, referred questions to the team.

    Dr. Nicholas Volpe is chairman of ophthalmology at Northwestern Medicine. He is not handling the case, but predicted Rose could be back within 2-4 weeks.

    Had me looking at Butler sideways for no damn reason.

    The feud they're trying to create between the two is annoying.

    Doug said that sometimes he felt that Butler wasn't on the team for a second because of the trash talk Butler is doing. 

    And that Butler is the best player hands down, all in practice.

    "He's been hands down the best player on the floor," McDermott said. "(Wednesday), he was guarding me and that was frustrating because he was everywhere. He's talking crap to all of us; it didn't feel like he was on our team for a second.

    "He has a completely different mindset. He really wants to win. He's worth the money, that's for sure."

    Thanks for clearing that up fam @CaptainSneakerhead23

    Amidst all this controversy and pissing matches, one thing goes unnoticed.
    Jimmy is takings the reigns and becoming that vocal leader. Rose was never a vocal leader, he was always more reserved and let Noah be the voice....he didn't seem to have a problem with that.
    We need that locker room leadership, not the bank account leadership.

    All in all, once we start playing and get to January we'll know who's who, and what's what. Until then let's keep our fingers crossed and hope we stay healthy.

    All this drose vs jimmy talk gets us nowhere.... Without them both together we win nothing!! Don't give a damn who the leader is.

    Didn't Doug come in w/ the hopes of being a great shooter? that COULD be a factor, but I like Snell for more of a faster tempo/transition style. Don't think Doug can keep up.

    Exactly, they're a great 1,2 combo and while good on their own, they're better together and better for the team.

    I'd like to see Jimmy handling the ball more w/ Rose this season, let them both get in their groove and work out what works best for them and the team. W/ Rose's injuries, he should start taking a lighter role which means relinquishing some of the ballhandling

    the MDJ injury may be best thing for this team. Snell is going to get major min preseason and start of reg season. his defense is already above avg for SG/SF if can score for us that would be huge.

    I have a feeling that he's going to be solid as he's finally out the dog of Thibs. Hoiberg gonna bring the best out of these offensive talents we got.
