I think the ABA might've been a little better. I remember seeing this video with Thompson do some decent dunks. Gervin too, but he couldn't finish some of them.

There’s been much worse.Not bad for 77. From what I saw nobody missed 5 dunks in a row before making one, effectively killing the hype and excitement.

Unfortunately there have been several dunk contests like that.
Nate was just one dude. There was one year multiple dudes were missing over and over damn near extended the contest an extra hour.
